Hi I'm a new member and can see that a lot of good advice is given on here and am looking for the best ways to use resistance bands. I am 72 yrs old and have an arthritic hip and am awaiting surgery for this. Other than walking I don't do any other kind of exercise but feel I need to. Any advice would be welcome.... Great forum.
resistance bands: Hi I'm a new member and... - Strength & Flex
resistance bands
Hi there and welcome. If you have a good relationship with your GP or surgeons could you ask them the best way to proceed. I guess you are looking at upper body work as you are awaiting hip surgery. Most resistance band training I know involves the use of the lower body to hold the bands in place while you use them. How are you at standing comfortably? If you look at the Stregnth and Flex videos there is a really good upper body push up that can be done against a wall I will look the link up and post it for you. If you could get your health professional on board to give you advice you will have a better idea of the do and donts specifically for you.
This is the link and it is called a standing push up under to link to the how to videos - hope this helps as well.
I have started using resistance bands. If you go on the "Trust Me I'm a Doctor website and search for strength training, there are exercises on there.
