I am recently back running after an injury kept me from running for months.
I have two questions and also would appreciate any advice.
Firstly, I've always been really flexible, but my period of enforced low activity has really stiffened things up for my lower body. Can anyone recommend any "soft" stretches until I get everything moving again?
Also, can anyone recommend any yoga for beginners? I know some people use yoga with Adriene - is this beginner level?
Thanks for any advice

I think the monthly calendar by YWA is probably beginner level, if you listen to your body and make a few amendments where you need to. YWA often suggests alternative positions but I also have used a lot of props which allow you to make any positions that bit more doable, I find. I do think there is something magical following a daily calendar and knowing many people on here as well as globally are following the same routine. To me, very motivational.
Having said that, just as you posted, I posted my commitment to doing a daily Pilates practice next month. And that might be another option.
I think I know how you feel. Sometimes our bodies seem to need more patience than we want to give. But patience and going slow has served me well. Wishing you the same!
I started Yoga with Adriene in January just because I was curious about what so many of the HU running community got from it. I was a complete novice but found most of the moves relatively straightforward. Give it a try using her monthly calendar
Hi BIT you might find one of Adriene's 30 days of Yoga a good place to start. Home was a good one. Her 30 days Yoga camp was also very instructive. The idea is to find what feels good and do what you can (your version) she gives clear instruction, I don't think you could hurt yourself.Good luck with your rehab.🤞🧘♀️🙏xxx
Hi BIT! Nice to see you over here. I’ve been a huge fan of Adriene for 3.5 years and I was a complete novice when I started. She has levels for everyone. There are several practices specifically for beginners, but the link below is a lovely easy one for starters.
Her monthly calendars are fantastic too, although not every day is necessarily easy. She also has a load of “foundations of yoga” videos which explain individual poses in detail. Also worth checking out.
Have fun, it’ll definitely help with your running and I swear by (mostly) daily yoga! 🙏🏻
