I can't physically do them? I either have to come up on my tiptoes or stick my bum out? My bones/muscles or something won't let me go any lower without moving feet/bum. What am I doing wrong?

if ur sticking ur bottom out then ur doin it correctly, that is the best way u may feel or think u look stupid but ur not, keep doin them
This sounds terrible, but the instructor at the gym told me to stick my bum out as if i was hovering over a dirty public loo! So sounds like you're doing the right thing
