can any one tell me what are the red spots that I get mostly on my leg? Why do I get them? They start out red after the redness goes away the spots turn blue and become bruises.I look like a spotted lady.

Mine are due to a rash caused by the Scleroderma, it is the Scleroderma reacting to the skin. Not sure if yours are the same, but there seems to be nothing to do for them or if there is my doctor hasn't said anything. The muscle under wherever the red patch occurs gets hard and very painful with mine as well. I wish there was something I could do as it gets pretty bad sometimes. Maybe someone has some suggestions here on the site? 8)

I don't think my "red spot" problem is the same but I'd appreciate comments. I have (not very severe) Raynaud's but have never been diagnosed with Scleroderma. In cold weather I develop red pin prick like dots in patches on my shins and now at the back of my lower legs as well. If left without applying cream such as E45, the area becomes dry and white cracks appear like crazy paving. I thought for a long time that it was chilblains, but I understand that chilblains are very painful and mine aren't, unless they get very inflamed from lack of creaming.

I haven't sought medical advice because I've kept the problem in check with cream, and since I retired I don't go out as much in the early morning, and I wear trousers quite often, whereas in the office I always wore skirt suits. I'm puzzled as to what it is and wondered if I am developing a form of scleroderma. All comments are welcome.

This is what happens to me, and this is also related to Sarcoidosis as well. There are over 100 Autoimmune Related Diseases that people have and Drs are just learning about. Go to aarda.org to learn more on how they are related. Best of Health to all.

In 1998 I had sarcoidosis. The only reason I knew I had it was that big red lumps appeared on my shins overnight and I could hardly walk. The GP diagnosed sarcoidosis. It afffected my lungs and lymphatic system. My consultant said that if sarcoidosis was accompanied by Erythema Nodosum, there was a very good chance that the sarcoidosis would go away and not come back. He said sarcoidosis was very similar to TB but not contagious. It is more likely to affect black Americans and Irish transplanted to England (me). The Erythema cleared up quite quickly and there was no evidence of any Sarcoidosis after about 6 months and I had no more trouble. The red hard lumps along the lymphatic system (it also appeared on one arm) bear no resemblance to small red spots, so do not be confused. I went around telling everyone for a long time afterwards that I'd had knobs on my legs because I was Irish!!

I have had little tiny red dots appear on my cheeks and a few faint ones on the palms of my hands. They aren't sore, the skin isn't any different than none spotty and there are no lumps. Makeup doesn't really cover them up as well.
