crown fitting

Hi, I had dental crown fitted & have felt unwell both from the temporary fitting & permanent one. I know adrenaline anaesthetic was used in first one & I was very unwell & after discussion with the dentist he used a different anaesthetic for the permanent crown but I’m wiped out with tiredness, flu symptoms & malaise. I know it was only local anaesthetics but is this normal as I also have post viral & scloderma. Dr wasn’t particularly supportive when I contacted him.

Have you ever had your cortisol levels tested? People with adrenal insufficiency can feel like that after such dental work. In stressful situations you use a lot of cortisol but if your adrenals are under functioning you will feel exhausted, shakey, nauseous, light headed.

Thank you for your reply. I had an adrenaline ( articaine) for the first one 2 wks ago & was unwell for several days. When I researched not meant to get this one if have raynauds as affects circulation. Dentist gave me a different one second time - which I had years ago but post viral symptoms returned & feeling very unwell. maybe it’s sensitivity to something, dentist did mention the casing? for the anaesthetic. I am highly sensitive to medications tho I had a colonoscopy couple of months ago & I was generally ok. I have systemic sclerosis & post viral from Covid.

I’ve got 3 crowns and two fillings being done at the moment so had 2 locals 2 weeks ago and will get more on Tuesday. I’m hyper-reactive but have had many crowns and fillings, root canal and extractions and never had adverse effects from the anaesthetic despite autoimmune diseases including systemic sclerosis. So I think perhaps you’re allergic or have other sensitivity to something in the anaesthetic or else it’s your stress hormones and the invasive nature of dental work that’s triggering your immune system?
