I was just wondering if anyone could relate to my problem or perhaps if anyone as had the same experience they could enlighten me how to get rid of this horrible sensation .
I feel like either something is stuck or I have a cut or a flap of skin,on the wall of my throat or base of tongue on the left side only ,at the top just where your food goes down.
When I have eaten I feel the need to try and clear my throat because it feels like food is stuck at the point of irritation or something is sticking out and I have to keep swallowing repeatedly to try and get it to go down ,if coughing doesn’t help.
I also have a buzzing in the ear on that side although that was there prior to this irritation.
This as been happening for over a week, it doesn’t feel like the lump you get in your throat with acid reflux,I have had that in the past and that was at the bottom of my throat and central.
I have been gargling with salt water, tried Ibroprofen, throat sweet, nasal saline ,antihistamines and nothing seems to be helping
I am going to try to get a Dr appointment next week, I have also spoke to the dentist who say she will check my mouth,I have an appointment with her a week on Monday, but she as said to ring back Monday and see if she as a cancellation before then.
I am wondering if this could be related to systemic sclerosis?
I am very worried though as my brother had throat cancer which started in his tonsil bed, anything unusual in that area really scares me, but I feel my GP will probably just dismiss this feeling.
Any advice or if anyone as had anything similar and would like to share it,I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

Hi Buttsy. You must be frank with your GP they should take your concerns seriously. I do get something vaguely familiar from time to time when I feel as if my tablets or a small piece of food has got stuck but it doesn’t usually last to long. I suffered with very bad anemia when I was first diagnosed with scleroderma which can lead to small flaps forming in the esophagus. Don’t know if you have had any anemia? You definitely need to get it checked out though. Stay well.
Thank you for your response, I thought it felt a bit like a flap or a cut possibly, I have been anemic i n the past but was just low last blood test, however I have recently been told I have a B12 deficiency and have had injections for that.
I went to the Dr today and he is referring me to ENT on a 2 week wait to get it checked out.
I had a scope down my nose and was told it looked red and advised it may be due to acid reflux, told to take Gaviscon more often.
I have also had an MRI requested by ENT , I had the MRi with contrast but no results yet. He also asked had I had a Barium swallow which coincidentally gastroenterologist had request a few weeks prior. So I have had both those done and also last week had a oesophageal manometry test on throat so I am now awaiting all these results.
I think the MRI was requested as a double check as cancer runs in my family and my brother had throat cancer so the Dr new I was very concerned about that.
To date I still have the same sensation and feel like food gets stuck and a irritation there.
