I have recently started to get a sore uncomfortable feeling in my throat and it feels really uncomfortable when i'm trying to swallow food or water. Is this a symptom of sceloderma i don't have any acid reflux symptoms, unless it's silent reflux, or pain in my chest. Does anyone else suffer from this type of pain/ sensation in the throat area?

Throat pain and swallowing problems
I have for years. I don't have the reflux that everyone thinks about ( heartburn etc) but the consultant has told me that the constant sore throat is reflux and treats it accordingly with poi's. He says that it's caused by acid at the back of the throat. I also often have a feeling of a lump at the back of my throat and I have had a camera down my throat which didn't find any lumps as such and so they think this is the acid. Hope this helps
I have the constant feeling of a lump in my throat and have had swallow tests, endoscopy etc. and no lump found. My specialist said the nerves are hypersensitive and inflamed and that is why it feels like a lump. I do have reflux and a bit of chest pain. I also have weird noises in my throat which apparently is the food and drink going up and down.
Thanks for the reply, I have that lump sensation as well and it is very uncomfortable It's good to know that these sensations are caused by inflammation of the nerves and not something else. I'm sure you were relieved after you had the swallow tests and endoscopy, though i don't envy you having that pain in your chest, my partner says heartburn is awful.
Thanks for the reply, that is very helpful and reassuring to know that it was acid reflux causing your symptoms, and that it's well controlled with PPI medication.
I have the same issue. I ended up in hospital because I couldn't eat or drink I had what I thought was a huge lump in my throat. I had all tests done, including camera etc They said it was reflux. I take medication now. I sometimes still get it but it's something I can live with as I know what's causing it.
Firstly i'm so sorry to hear you went through that, you must have been so worried. So glad to hear all the tests came back negative for anything sinister and that they determined it was acid reflux. I suppose it was such a relief and that when you experience it now you know exactly what it is and know that it's nothing to worry about. I'm hoping mine is just reflux too, though it's hard to believe it can cause so much pain and discomfort.
