Hi I'm not sure if anyone can help me but i'm going to try. I have been an amputee for 35 years, so my remaining leg is under a lot of pressure. I was diagnosed with Raynaud's in my hands and feet around 10 years ago, at first I was given medication (Nifedipine) but I haven't used it in years.
I have been experiencing severe cramps over the last few years that are now happening every night. Leg starts twitching and it feels like electric current is running through it. Then the foot cramp starts and the toes lock under themselves, it lasts for around 10 minutes a time and can happen up to 5 times a night but only at night. I haven't slept properly in weeks, and my leg feels heavy and sore the following day. Can anyone tell me if they have had this experience and what help they could please give?. Thank you

Julie I have no help to give but I am pleased because you have helped me enormously. I will never complain about my twitchy jumpy and itchy legs in bed again. Hope you find someone who can help you with this awful thing xx
Hi JulieI hope you get some peace soon. I've had some really horrible night cramps in my legs and feet which started for no obvious reason. It was in muscle groups I didn't even know I had! I have limited Scleraderma and severe raynauds. The rheumatologist didn't know what it was and asked my GP to test my magnesium levels, which were normal. After months of having to jump out of bed and try to stretch cramped muscles in several places at once, which is hard because stretching one way caused the opposing muscles to go into more cramp, it all gradually reduced and I haven't had any cramps for a few weeks. I do get small twitchy feelings and hot feet, but nothing like the cramp. I hope it stops for you soon. X
I have experienced severe cramps for years, I have a glass of tonic water before bed and it helps, though doesn't stop them altogether. My doctor gave me quinine tablets but I couldn't stomach them due to feeling sick all the time. I also have constant twitching in the muscles which I was quite worried about , but reading your posts I realise it is more common than I thought. I have Raynaud's and have had it for around 15 years but never been tested for anything else. Hope you can get some relief and get some sleep, I have sleepless nights and they do get you down
Hi Julie, pleased to meet you, I am Davina, have sjogrens and raynauds. Have had many years of problems with night twitches and cramps. Cramp so bad that it affected every muscle in my body, my dad had been the same, and he used to take a medicine that is no longer available and there is currently nothing like it on the market. So for years I was in some discomfort with one thing and another, when I happened to go to the chiropractor for something totally unrelated, and whilst in there had my ribcage go into spasm, nothing new for me, but she was loving watching it, then relieved it. She asked me if I had ever tried anything for my cramps, and seeing as she had witnessed it, said she would give me a half empty bottle of hers, Magnesium oil. I can tell you, my standard of life has improved greatly. I can take showers pain free, without cramping, I can change light bulbs without stressing. How I use it - I have a shower, I go through my routine of moisturising, then with this spray on bottle, I just spray two or three squirts on each calf, and rub in. I find that when needed I use every other day for about a fortnight, then I don't need it for a week, then cramp returns, restless legs returns and I need to start the process again. But that half a bottle still remains on my shelf, a small amount goes a long way and has helped me enormously. I would imagine there are many types on the market, the chiropractor gave me the Betteryou make, and I haven't had to buy another yet, but I just looked and a well known high street health shop has an offer on, buy one get one half price which is good. Hope this helps you in some way.
