Is your skin getting tight and hard? Get some coconut oil to keep them supple and make sure that you get a referral to a scleroderma expert, rather than an ordinary rheumatologist.
I know there's more but I call scleroderma the burping and yawning disease
Good one! But, not yawning so much...just the burping [ which brings acid up into my mouth -sometimes vomit]...and the drooling....apparently I am the opposite of most with Sys. Scleroderma in that I do not have a dry mouth. But, the drooling is so embarrassing, I have to keep a stack of tissues handy! No sensation in my mouth of too much saliva so have no idea why I have this...until it starts running down my chin, yuk! Such a lovely disease we have!
Sending you my sympathy. Ultimately I suspect that you will need to go on an immuno-suppressant medication such as Methotrexate to stem the take-over of the disease. There are specialist Scleroderma clinics in the UK, e.g. at the Royal Free Hospital. Anything you can do to inform yourself about auto-immune conditions will help you, so you are more informed about Scleroderma and its treatment options than your GP !! There is evidence that problems with the gut bacterial population may be a contributory factor to the development of the disease, along with stress. Anything you can do to improve your diet and gut bacterial flora, and to de-stress your life, will help.
