I have had very strong palpitation at night for over 5 years now.....I have had every test possible on my heart including numerous ecg's, heart scans, echo tests, calcium scoring and 2 angiograms....all of which has come up with nothing (which is obviously reasuring) however I am still getting heavy palpiations....the cardiologist has said that there is nothing more can be done and they are officially going to put my condition down as benign ectopic beats...my meds are statins, beta blockers and aspirin.
However after many years of this and trying diiferent sleeping positions and beds, I have come to the conclusion that I am getting these beats only when I am either trying to fall asleep or when I am actually asleep they wake me up....I am getting about 20 thumps a night in my chest...its not a sleep apnea thing, ie breathing etc....it is litarally when I am relaxed and tring to nod off.....its all very strange and dosn't make any sense. So is there a direct link between trying to fall asleep and my palpitations ? I now know that my ectopic beats are a symptom rather than the cause.... any comments appreciated. !
