I recently had a sleep study and I stopped breathing 52 times in an hour during study. Last night was my first one with cpap, I did ok but struggling with dry mouth. I had to get one that covers all of nose and mouth. Just wondered if any had any suggetions to help with dry mouth? Thanks

My CPAP has a water reservoir that the air rides over on its way to you. If your machine doesn't have that maybe you could look into that. Some machines have a built in add on feature to buy.

~Well done Opie doing well with your 1st night on CPAP - positive & there will be teething probs as you settle into your new regime.

I have plastic container to take water in my CPAP - this keeps my sinus's moist but doesn't stop mouth from drying out.

When we are relaxed the jaw drops & mouth opens hence the drying out.

I use chin/head band to try & alleviate mouth from opening - I bought this from the my usual Sleep Specialist Resp/Med folk.

Maybe try this as an option.

What brand is your machine? Most models have moisture adjustment to allow more or less moisture to be released during use. If you are not sure you can call technician of the company that sold the unit to you.

Keep a dry mouth spray with you.

try using Lubricity Dry Mouth Spray and it worked for me very well.

Following sleep tests I was diagnosed with sleep apnea -13 years ago and been using the same CPAP machine since. Still wake a couple of times but not too bad. Perseverance is the key.
