Suffering from nightmares again. I’m still shook even after I wake up cuz these dreams are reality. I don’t know how to make them stop

How long have you had them?

Do you have any movement or shouting out with them?

Are you on any medication? x

I try to take melatonin but it doesn’t help. I’ve had these night errs since I had a bad trigger for my ptsd last year. I try to journal it and let out my feelings that way.

Mine started in 2004 and I thought was a symptom of my PTSD but it wasn’t.

Is yours definitely?

Do you have any other health issues?

I think it’s directly related due to the dreams being the same and being something that happened to me in my past. Over and over. I don’t have any other health issues. Just been trying to work thru the ptsd.

Ok x

My advise then is to try to change the ending of the dream. Try to aim to be in control. I know its hard. Keep trying. You deserve to succeed and you will.

Also tell yourself ( and your adrenals) every day that you are safe. Think of 3 reasons why you are safe x

Some ideas: When I wake up like that in the middle of the night, I take some magnesium complex--magnesium glycinate or magnesium taurate. Magnesium is calming to the muscles and to the heart. Also could be a symptom of hypothyroidism. You could get your thyroid checked. Too much B6 can cause very many vivid dreams. Try to avoid benzodiazepines like Ativan or Klonopin or Valium because they are highly addictive. Taking an anti- depressant is better for PTSD.
