I've had a recurring pain/discomfort deep under my jawbone. Not every day, but many days over the last few months. I push on it to make it not hurt when I swallow. Usually in the mornings, which seems odd. I have scleroderma (CREST), dermatomyositis, and I suspect Sjogren's. Could it possibly be a salivary gland? Anyone experienced this?

Pain in the neck under jaw?
You should get it checked out by either your dentist or doctor. You could have a blocked salivary gland, so do get it checked as can lead to infection. Best wishes
From my ears right down to my neck have been continually sore for years. My ears itch like mad. Recent ultrasound showed damage to parotids which could have been avoided if I’d been diagnosed sooner so persevere and dont feel a nuisance its your body not theirs x
Hi J,
yes I have Sjogrens and get swollen glands and sore lumps under my chin quite regularly. You should get it checked out by your Dr to confirm. Best of luck!
I agree with the other replies to see a doctor. It does sound like a blocked gland. But in the meantime I've been recommended to alternate hot and cold compresses with light pressure. Do each for a minute or two at a time ending with cold if I remember correctly. It may help to drain the gland. I also do a little gentle massage stroke from the top of the area down along both sides of the jaw line. Sometimes I can actually feel the gland drain. Good luck.
