Hi all, looking for a bit of advice I guess, just before Christmas I woke up with excruciating pain in my right hip, it went away after a couple weeks, then at the end of January I got severe pain in my lower right side which at first doctors believed may be my appendix, an ultrasound showed fluid behind my right ovary and no problem with my appendix, after many symptoms getting worse, bloating, no appetite, being sick all the time, back pain that feels like contractions, need to wee a lot, headaches ant still have bad pain in hip and right side, I was given a ct scan and they are saying nothing visible but have now been given a ca125 blood test and waiting for results, after looking up ovarian cancer I realised I have possibly been having symptoms for years, I was at the doctors 4 years ago for irregular bleeding and pain during intercourse which they said was down to stress from losing my mother, just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation or can offer advice, I’m 29 with children so going out of my mind, also sleeping all the time, I fell asleep after collecting my children from school today and woke up at midnight, having not made dinner or tidied up and my youngest was curled up on the sofa beside me and the guilt is overwhelming which inspired me to come looking for some help.... any response is appreciated

I'm so sorry you are going through such painful and scary things! But know that you are doing the right thing to continue to seek answers and treatment. Don't beat yourself up for not knowing what the problem might be, that's the medical folks' job to figure it out and to give you help. The symptoms of ovarian are often similar to symptoms of other gynecological or gastrointestinal issues. That's one reason we want women AND DOCTORS to be informed so they consider it as a possibility and, in your case, hopefully eliminate it as the cause. The CA125 is only what they start with. Even if that marker is concerning, it can simply be a signal of inflammation in the body which is not necessarily ovarian cancer. I know it's hard but try not to get too far ahead of yourself worrying and imagining the worst. Just keep after your medical team till you get an answer and some relief! You're a young mom who needs and deserves to be fighting fit! Hoping you get a helpful answer soon! Deb in Colorado

Please continue to be persistent in finding a doctor that can give you answers. You might want to ask your doctors if they have considered ovarian cancer. As Deb said, there are a lot of other conditions that have similar symptoms. Sometimes doctors wait to consider ovarian cancer because it is rarer than a lot of those other conditions, and some doctors may think because of your age, it is really unlikely. While ovarian cancer does tend to be associated with older women, any age including kids can be diagnosed with it. Let your doctors know that you understand ovarian cancer is rare, but that you would like them to rule it out earlier rather than later while considering all the other possible diagnoses. Know that we are here for you. Sending you lots of hugs and waiting along side of you for answers Best wishes - Gwen
