Hi, I am new to this site. I am an 18 year breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December, 2017. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy, followed by six sessions of carboplatin and Taxol. I tolerated chemo very well, I am happy to say. So much easier than 18 years go! The doctors feel I am in remission however I am somewhat anxiously awaiting my first post-treatment scan in September. Sending prayers and hugs to all affected by this and any other cancer.

Hi Kathykoer. Glad you found this site. I think what you are experiencing is something that probably 99% of us who got to our first remission can remember feeling. For me especially the day before, day of and the day after (I usually didn’t get the results of my CA125 until the day after) an appointment I would be very tense. I had to learn how to let it go. It wasn’t something that was easy. I had to have a hard talk with myself. I had to decide whether I wanted to waste my energy worrying about something that may or may not happen and something I had no control over OR did I want to live my life to the fullest. I decided I didn’t want to possibly die when I was 100 years old and have my epitaph say “she spent the last x years worrying about something that never happened and missed out on a fuller life”.

It’s not easy, but now your job is to learn how to live with the uncertainty of what tomorrow may bring and know that you will deal with whatever comes your way.

Best wishes. Gwen

I'm beginning to know what you mean, Gwen! After carbo/taxol didn't work for me I was out on carbo/caelyx and have had 3 cycles feeling very well! I'm now due for my dr's appt this m in Monday to get results of scan and cancer marker and although feeling well I am becoming anxious which I'm beginning to realise is a very common emotion. However, I'm holding on to the fact I'm feeling really well- in fact if I didn't know I had cancer I would think nothing of it! We need to live life in the here and now!xxxDawn!😀💗😀
