I just asked my doctor to join an online group with ovarian cancer patients. Preferably in the United States. There are several groups in the UK. I was hoping for regional group- western US.
The last 9 months have been a whirlwind-HGS diagnosis, surgery, chemo. I am just now getting on my feet- 3 months after chemo treatment needed. I am still trying to navigate 30-40% energy level.
I hope to have a good new year 2025, with some travel and spending time outdoors. I would love to hear from other women about their recovery after chemo.

Hi Songbird 2025, welcome to the club. I live in the states and was diagnosed with high grade epithelial carcinoma . I was stages at 4 after my surgery in Jan. 2020. I had four chemos, surgery and three more chemos. I am BRACA negative and was put on Niraparib for three years. I am NED as of now and I feel blessed after all of this. It’s not easy with having side effects during the treatments, but I tried and stayed positive and prayed a lot for support. I am 78 years old and I keep hoping that my cancer keeps staying at bay. I’ve been through a lot, because my husband of 55 years passed away this year from pancreatic cancer. Just take one day at a time and try and not look at the big picture. Sending my best wishes in your cancer journey. Donna 😊
Thank you for sharing your story and message of hope. I am sorry for your loss this year. My husband and I have been married for almost 38 years. We are taking one day at a time.
You’re very welcome. It is so nice to share stories on here about everything that everyone is going through. Keep positive and one day at a time. Wishing you times through whatever treatments that you will be having. Take care, Donna 🙏😊
Thank you. I am done with my treatments, until re-occurrence. Then it will be stage 4 and no more treatment will be available, except for possible de-bulking surgery. My type of cancer has a 3 year life expectancy from diagnosis. Only 10% live 5 years. That is why this support group is so helpful to focus on the positive.
Hi. I am in the US and found this group when I was first diagnosed in 2018. I much prefer it to other online groups, the only caveat being differences in the health care system and a few differences in availability of treatments. I lived in London for two years and taught global studies so I’m always interested in the difference s but mostly we’re all in the same boat.
Thanks for the welcome. I am glad you are enjoying these group chats about cancer treatments , to have a friendly and safe place to share feelings about our challenges and blessings.
I have enjoyed my travels to Europe and Asia. Women are the same everywhere- often kind, intelligent and compassionate.
