Hi. I just had a major Ovarian Cancer Debulking surgery. Complete radical hysterectomy appendix removed and the fatty area on my stomach. My Dr removed the bloody mass tumor and believes he got it all. I start Chemo in two weeks after the port placement. I feel waves of tears come on. Is this normal?

Im to an Ovarian cancer fighter. I was diagnosed star 3 Granulosa Cell Tumor after I had a tumor rupture on my right ovary. I had other tumors in my uterus, stomach lining, abdomen etc. I had the emergency surgery removing the ruptured mass, my right ovary and he stopped my internal bleeding. Then i had a 2nd surgery which consisted of a full hysterectomy and tumor removals. I then had a port put in a month later and following day i started my chemo. 6 months of chemo and fighting to kill cancer. You're going to kick this cancers butt. Stay positive, rest, hydrated and flush the poison out of your body. I lost my hair and I loved being bald. It's a sense of strength in my eyes. Don't be afraid to voice how you feel and don't hesitate to ask for help. We are warriors and cancer support groups are there to help.

Absolutely. Not only are your hormones gone but cancer is scary period. Did they Stage you yet? We are Stage One but grade 3. I think only time will remove the fear of reoccurring. Headed for round 3 Monday. Since this type of chemo is cumulative they say that the next two rounds are going to be pretty rough. Be sure and take Claritin the day before. It really does help with the joint pain to chase it

Yes, I found conventional therapy and meditation very useful. I'm facing my second surgery for new growths coming up, it will be less radical than the first but not less distressing. There are promising new drugs (PARP inhibitors) that promise prolonged survival rates. I hope you can find relief, which comes with time, too.

Any clear cell ovarian stories out there?

Completely. Antidepressants such as Zoloft help with hormone transition

Survivor, yes tears are normal in this situation. Remember that chemo kills brain cells too! Brain injuries produce emotional lability. Chemo brain has affected my ability to self edit. This new impulsivity has slowly improved in the ten months since finishing chemo.
