Doxil

[Klamato]

I have gone through 8 years of treatment for 4th stage breast cancer, but now they are suggesting I begin Doxil. Has anyone had experience with this chemo treatment?

Hello,

I have been on Doxil since April, so five doses. It wasn’t the worst treatment but I always seemed to have one week where I would have some vomiting and diarrhea so that wasn’t fun. One other frustrating thing is that the timing was weird so I never knew when it would occur.

In terms of IV chemo it was nice that I only had to show up at the clinic once a month. I was a little more tired so I carved out time to rest. I hope this is a little helpful.

I was diagnosed MBC just after you in 2018 so happy to hear that you are doing well. I know once we get to the stage of infusion chemotherapy it is very stressful until we know how we react. Remember everyone is different and personally I like to go into any change with positivity and a mindset that this will work for me. Side effects are much more manageable these days. Just be open and honest with your team and they will take care of you. They can't treat a side effect that you don't tell them about. Take care and I hope you post back about your experience.
