Does anybody get severe cramps; legs, pectoral and feet?

I have been on Ibrance for nearly 6 years. I feel I am doing well overall but I get very painful muscle cramps. I have experimented with Magnesium Oxide, Glycinate/Hylands Leg Cramps/Curcumin/Tonic water/Calcium and Potasium. The only thing that helps is drinking magnesium citrate power in water during a muscle cramp attack. I really wish I could find something to avoid them in the first place. Any ideas?

Oh, thank you! I never thought the leg cramps could have something to do with Ibrance! I’ve been on it for almost 6 ½ yrs. I do take magnesium before bed. One of my fellow synchronized swimmers swears by taking a little mustard (no specific brand) before activities. She’s on other medications, not Ibrance. But it could be worth a try. Not a harmful thing…

Best wishes.

hi! Oh yes! But I was told it was from the antanozole. The fastest thing I have done that works most of the time is tonic water, diet one. I have it at the bedside and it works. It has to have that quinine in it. I’ll drink a few swallows and the cramp goes away 95% of the time. I also take extra potassium everyday with my prenatal vitamins. Before I got sick I used to get the cramps and that worked. Everyone is different, but it’s 2 cheap options u might want to try. Good luck!

I’d like to hear about the prenatal vitamins. Does that help with blood counts?

I’m not sure, but I have been taking them long before I got ill. It’s got folic acid already, so helps with our cancer. My other numbers are great!

Hi. Sorry to hear that. I know how painful they can be. An old nurse told me to take 2 tums. I was at work at the time and the cramp was unbearable. I took 2 tums and the cramp was gone in 10 minutes I still do it to this day. Kinda crazy but it might help

Good luck

I also get leg cramps and I have found that they occur on days when I haven’t drank much water. I try to ensure I drink 64 ounces of water a day and then I don’t get the cramps. I hope it works for you too. 😉

I thought I was drinking enough water getting thorough 2 of 16.9 oz. Bottles but maybe not. Thank you, I will increase my water intake.

Water intake helps a lot. The rule of thumb on the amount is half your body weight in ounces. A person weighing in at 128 should drink 64 oz of water per day.

yes, when I was on that med I had a lot of leg cramps. But it was caused by the anastrozole…also painful tendon problems like trigger finger. For night cramps, we made sure to have a little container of yellow mustard…one little taste of mustard and the cramp disappears…apparently the sour taste interferes with nerve signals causing the cramps. Also, do make sure yiu stay hydrated. I also used TheraWorks creams …has magnesium in it and seems to be another useful aid. Just rub it on your legs before bed….

Mustard is a tough one, but I must give it a try. Thank you

It’s just a tiny dap on your finger…and it’s my husband who told me that when he gets that little dab, it tastes sweet,,,who knew!

I drink a swallow pickle juice and that takes care of the cramps

Make sure you stay well hydrated. Coconut helps me a lot with dehydration. Also make sure to give your calf muscles a very decent stretch, especially right before bed. I find I need to do this every night now. Put the front of your back foot (stretching foot) on top of a rolled hand towel, it will help you get a much deeper stretch

Hello, 1horse,

The subject of how to treat leg cramps was brought up at my weekly mets group this morning and two of the ladies swear by a spray magnesium called Theraworx. I have not tried it myself, so cannot vouch for its effectiveness. Another solution which we chuckled about, but some people swear by is putting a bar of soap between your sheets at night. I did a little research on that one and found a website that said that it is an old wive's tale, however, the soap does release magnesium. So, who knows. I hope you can find something that helps.

Haha, I actually did try the bar of soap trick but it didn’t work for me so the old wives tale is laid to rest here. I will try the Theraworx spray. Thank you.
