Follow up; starting 2 weeks of radiation therapy on the new bone met, It is one centimeter and not causing any pain yet so treating it and a small area around it on femur in case of micro mets. Radiation Oncologist said that SBRT is an option but harder to get approved and best used to direct only to met and not affect surrounding tissue... so liver, etc. Will then have scan in about 8 weeks. Hope everything else stays stable! Did y'all need to stop Ibrance when doing radiation? --Trish

Follow up on new bone met
I had SBRT twice and did not stop my Ibrance. Best to you! Hugs
Yes, I was told to stop Ibrance during radiation as well.
I did not stop my Ibrance when I had radiation, it was regular radiation and not SBRT so I'm not sure if this was why? Good luck to you!!
I had my main breast radiotherapy and two separate shots on my spine and did not stop Ibrance (or anything else) for any of them
I’m on Piqray and had SBRT on three new bone mets about 6 weeks ago. I didn’t stop Piqray. Just had PET scan last week and was relieved that those three mets are gone and no new mets have appeared, so I can continue on Piqray. (I guess it’s a tug of war between cancer and Piqray! ) The only weird thing is those darn TMs aren’t going down. But I’m going to take the report that old mets are stable as good news and not worry about TMs— since oncologist is not worried. Planning to enjoy the next three months til the next scan.
Anyway, radiation should definitely help you! Best wishes,
Helen
I agree! Enjoy the post-scan months until the pre-scan anxiety kicks in which we all know it will. And the tumor markers, as I am sure you know, can jump around for various reasons. I watched a really interesting video by a company marketing liquid biopsies for monitoring progression. I will try to find it and post it. Could very well be our future which would still be anxiety producing but a lot easier on us!
I had SBRT radiation about 2 1/2 years ago but did not have to stop taking Ibrance. The radiation oncologist did say though not to take Vitamin A or E supplements or drink green tea or antioxidants during that time as it would counteract what the radiation was trying to do. Best wishes to you. Hope the radiation works well and you have good scans. Sending hugs.
Green tea? I drink lots of it - iced. I will have to ask some of my AI friends like Claude and Chat GPT what their opinion is! Thanks! Hugs back.
I know it is so good for us to drink Green Tea but even my regular oncologist said not to have it because of the antioxidant properties. I guess because technically our meds are toxins (even though they help us), antioxidants could stop them from working.
Guess I'll have to replace it with wine 😊. I really haven't heard/read anything about green tea and MBC other than good stuff. Will definitely look into it!
I like wine, too, although I try not to drink too much. Sometimes I just need to have a glass. I try to save it for my week off of Ibrance, but once in awhile I have one the other weeks. If you ask your doctor about green tea, would you please let me know what he/or she says. Every doctor seems to have different opinions. Hugs
Yes, I had radiation and had to delay starting Ibrance when first diagnosed with MBC. It is really great that you can have this treatment with the hope of bone mets not progressing in the area. Best, Mary.
No need to stop Ibrance. I've been zapped plenty of times and never told to hold the meds. Good luck!
Hope everything stays stable
