Hello friends. I along with some others on this board have wondered about upward movement in our CA15 tumor markers during our monthly blood labs. Today I met with my oncologist following my semi annual CT and blood scans. I am 2 years into MBC.
I was apprehensive because the last 3 month blood labs showed small but identifiable upward trends in my CA15.
The great news is my scans are clean!! Phew! I’m good to go again thank goodness
When I asked about the markers, she said to think of the change as more like a “squiggle.” In other words, some variance is not unusual. It’s not like some bad sort of “hockey stick” trajectory over months and months.
It is a good reminder to me to focus on the whole set of tests. The bigger picture is more informative. I will try not to fall into this rabbit hole again with my markers. I will embrace that Ibrance and letrozole are still working.
So pleased for you ! Hope you get a good deal longer on this protocol . And keep enjoying the cycling ! I love it too , and am now able to enjoy an outdoor cafe at my local farm shop en route ! And I plan to increase my journeys / new routes once lockdown ends ! x
Sandra that does sound spectacular ! ...You will have to post a pic of your view ! We just bought one of those tiny cycle helmet sport cameras and hope to film some of our journeys to play back later ... a new gadget for my husband on Father’s Day yesterday !! We have unusually high temperatures of 80 plus this week here too , so early morning rides here also . Take care ! x
Gosh bears to look out for ! ... it’s something we only hear about in fairy tales here or see in a zoo ! I pass horses, donkeys , cows , goats and sheep daily ... but they’re all fenced in ! Do take care tho‘ .... heard one of my chemo nursing sisters is off as came off her ebike on an evening ride and smashed her elbow / fractured .But it hasn’t put me off ... I have confidence in my bike ... just have to always stay fully focussed when out ! Enjoy ! x
