My dr thought it was Afinitor that I was allergic to. I started Aromasin again. 5 days later I had a rash all over and my arms and legs are swelled with Lymphodema. It’s really awful. Any suggestions for the rash or Lymphodema. I never had Lymphodema before this. I’m seeing a physical therapist

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I don’t take aromasin so I have nothing to contribute other than compassion and solidarity. I hope your onc finds an answer soon.
I’m sorry to hear about all your discomfort. I strongly suggest seeing an allergist. I have not had an allergic reaction to this medication, but I have gotten anaphylaxis from the crematorium in paxital and the iodine iv contrast. The allergist may be able to give you some pretreatments to ward off the side effects.
i had an allergic reaction to tamoxifen years ago. Swollen and rash on my face. Had to stop it. Sorry you’re going through this. I’ve had lymphedema and saw a PT and got a compression sleeve for my arm. Also the PT used kinesio tape to help with fluid. Sounds like the aromasin triggered an inflammatory response.
I had all kinds of reactions when I was on the A/A combo including sores that leaked. One was under my toe nail and the podiatrist said it looked like it was an injury but as it was literally under my nail no one could explain how an injury occurred there. I had a blood nose quite often, and swelling of my feet that was checked by ultrasound. There was no cause found. I was taken off it when the liver numbers went sky high. Up to four digits if I recall correctly. After I stopped Afinitor everything eventually returned to normal.
We all react differently to medication. I’m still on Aromasin nearly six years later but I couldn’t have stayed on Afinitor that long as the side effects included anorexia.
All you can do, and all any of us can do, is respond to side effects that occur. I’ve found Aromasin to be helpful but that’s obviously not your experience.
Aromasin is a steroidal aromatase inhibitor and my first though when I read your note was have you tolerated one of the non-steroidal aromatase inhibitors (Letrozole/Femara or Anastrozole/Arimidex)? Also, sometimes different brands of the same med contain different stuff that can cause allergic reactions. Your pharmacist can probably tell you what company makes the Aromasin you've gotten, and whether they can get it from a different manufacturer. If I were in your shoes, I'd ask my onc about that possibility. The allergic reaction you have had sounds awful! Very uncomfortable! Our quality of life (QOL) really matters! I've had allergies my whole life! Hay feverish symptoms mostly. My earliest memories of seeing doctors are of going to the ER in the middle of the night when I was very young (2 0r 3) and getting shots of benedryl. I keep benedryl on hand. The highest dose I've ever been given in an ER as an adult was 4 of the 25 mg tablets at once, so I think of that as the maximum I can take at once (and I'd head to the ER if I thought I needed that much, LOL). I've had so much benedryl in my life that it doesn't make me at all drousy. I joke that my parents should have bought stock in the company that makes it!
