the best thing that ever happened to me, is taking essential oils! Last thing I wanted to do was signup for more drugs. I have been on ibrance and anastrozole for almost 4 years.
If you take it first thing in the morning it should be okay but if you’re taking it say at 9am and you still can’t sleep at night I’d suggest changing your pain medication. Something like Targin which is a slow release drug. Essential oils have a purpose but cancer pain needs the real deal. I won’t be a martyr to pain under any circumstances.
I don’t feel iam being a martyr by not taking pain medication. I have tried a few, but I don’t want to live depending on pills. They make me more moody (than normal), they upset my whole metabolism with constipation or worse, nausea, always having to try and have something in my stomach…I have to keep track, someone else is in control. So if I can hold on with out too much pain… and they affect my sleep…
Dear Shafight,I'm sorry to hear you are having problems sleeping. I too, have struggled with sleep and I sympathise with how you may feel. I'm not sure of the cause, treatment or stress or in my case probably both!
What works for me is melatonin slow release pills (Around 5mg to 10mg per night) and high dose CBD oil (I take 20%) I have tried sleeping pills but I never feel sufficiently rested the next day.
I also do a short meditation every night before sleeping to release any fear or stress I have.
Right now this is working ok for me.
Personally I found tramadol helped me sleep as it relaxed me, though I have stopped taking this as I find it makes me feel very strange with my current treatment.
Wishing you the best,
Faye
Same here. I reduced my dosage with my doctor’s ok and I am doing much better getting rest.
I have trouble getting to sleep sometimes because of leg and feet neuropathy from a brain met. Also skin prickles due to e-blockers. I tried Tramadole and it just seemed to enhance these symptoms! I now use medical cannabis--mostly THC, about 5 to 10 mg. Oral tabs, and I fall asleep about an hour after taking. Once asleep, I usually don't wake up again and stay awake--fall back asleep. I get the medical cannabis thru the state of MN pharmacies--very good quality. Best to you!
I have been fighting cancer since 2016 and mets since 2019. I have never taken any meds for pain. I too use essential oils and also use cbd oil. Green planet us has many roll on products too. I use their cbd vanilla at night. I use thyme oil mixed with coco or olive oil for my lower back and rosemary, frankincense and peppermint for the area on my spine and hips. The peppermint is great to reduce inflammation and therefore pain. If I have a headache, I just put a dab of it on my finger and put it on the top of my head. within 20 min it is gone. Taking our already toxic meds for mets is not good for our kidneys or liver, let alone taking pharma pain pills. Hope this helps. My mother whom is 80 has been using the roll on cbd for a few years now and is off all her narcotics they gave her for her back pain.
thanks so much for this information.
I still don’t understand what essential oils are and where I get them
Essential oils are pure forms of natural oils. Extracts are watered down versions. I can get essential oils at my local cheap shop. I use them in a diffuser. You could try a candle supplier because they use essential oils to add scent to the candle. Or you might find it in a large supermarket. Or you could try the melatonin, which you could surely get from a pharmacy, as that’s fact checked as a sleep aid. sleepfoundation.org/melatonin
thank you. What do you mean that you use in a diffuser? Is it breathing the oils. And you say they help you sleep?
No I use it as a room deodorant. I don’t think oil essences have a place in medical treatment but they make a room smell nice. Lavender is the one that’s most spoken of as a relaxant to aid sleep. There’s a couple of ways to diffuse the smell into the room and one involves a tea candle underneath the oil reservoir. I’m not sure where you’d find one in America but they aren’t especially hard to find, or they aren’t here anyway.
I didn’t have that when I took it, but it made me very constipaited so I quit taking it.
