Are many people taking I Brance at night instead of in the morning. I find that half an hour after I take it I get very sleepy so I decided on my next cycle to start at night. Any thoughts

I take it at night out of habit. Not sure if it would make me more tired if I took it in the morning. I can go days feeling ok and then it hits. Not sure that taking it at a certain time makes a difference but worth trying.

Hi Gwennie

I find that the only problem is that Ibrance has to be taken with a meal and if I eat late then I cant sleep so take mine with dinner about 7 pm..I guess just do what suits you

How are you getting on with Ibrance?

Do what works best for you. I have done it at all different times. The best time for me is when I can remember it consistently.

in reply toTap321

Haha. Yeah that’s one pill I’ll get out of bed for if I forgot to take it.

Always night time :)

I take mine with my breakfast every morning , shortly after my Letrozole. A lot of women are saying the drug is fat soluble so best to take with a little fat. I've started taking with some peanut butter on toast and a banana.

I have taken Ibrance 125/ Letrozole for 11 cycles now , always at breakfast time (best time for me to remember as I have a set breakfast routine) and I eat a big breakfast. I have no nausea after and am at most energetic am . Main thing , whatever time you regularly take it ,is to take it with a good meal which includes some fat and drink lots of water with it.

Hi, Gwennie! I take both Ibrance and letrozole when I go to bed, often along with a couple of Tylenol for an achy back. One or both drugs suggested a potential side effect as drowsiness, so I’ve taken both at night since starting treatment (November 2017) and have had no trouble sleeping. Hope you have the same! I take it at night. This is my second course. I took my first in the morning and had problems remembering it. I take it after my shower since I've always just had dinner. I'm not much of a breakfast person, so this works best for me.

Yep thats what i did as well at night drink water go to sleep. I am now on affinitor instead and I do the same thing

I take mine with Letrozole at breakfast. I can't say if it adds to the fatigue because I take a blood thinner also (two a day) which has same side effects as the Ibrance and letrozole. Triple whammy :)

I am on cycle 20 of Ibrance ( now with Faslodex). The first 19 months I had taken it with breakfast. When I read some were taking Ibrance at night because it made them drowsy, I changed my time to dinner, Mostly because I have had insomnia since I started with Ibrance/Letrozole in January 2017. Along with insomnia I have horrible achy legs that keep me awake. Never had the achy (restless legs) before taking meds. I have not noticed any change since taking meds at dinner as opposed to breakfast.

I would love to get a good nights sleep. I have tried everything. OTC sleep aids make me so drowsy in the morning I can’t function till afternoon.

I do take 5mg Hydrocodone at bedtime ( which is supposed to make you drowsy HA, not me). -it helps ease pain and restless legs, but I still don’t fall asleep till 1 or 2 am. I have tried all the “home remedies, melatonin etc. my Onc. Has offered Ambien, but I just don’t want the hangover feeling and one more PILL added. Open for suggestions. (Deb)

Hi Deb,

Has your Onc checked your magnesium levels? I found out last week end that magnesium helps with leg cramps as restful sleep. I was able to make some magnesium oil from the flakes I had but plan on buying a supplement this weekend. I have also employed sleeping with a heating pad (on medium) ... It's oddly comforting.

Hope you get some restful sleep soon.

Hi DinNorCal. We sound like twins including the 5mg of oxycodone at night. 2.5-5mgs of apraxolam seems to help me get a few straight hours of good sleep. I think it helps relieve anxiety and just brings on a calming effect. No fuzziness in the morning. Good luck

Aprazolam not apraxolam

Thanks for the tip. I will check out the Apraolam.

Other OTC sleep aids left me so drowsy in the morning. I will check with my Oncologist. Have a great day.

I do the same thing. I get at least five straight hours. I was told REM sleep is important. Nothing else worked as well. And, I am not drowsy the next day.

I know if I drink slot of water through the day and exercise my legs even outstanding in place then they don’t cramp and spasm at night

I was advised to take it after dinner--to reduce stomach upset and maybe due to increased sleepiness...

I take mine at night for that very reason - it makes me drowsy.

Hi Gwennie,

I take mine at night as I am usually guaranteed that is my biggest meal of the day. I have had a false sense of less fatigue as the first 2 weeks I was on steroids (but was being weened off as my body was adjusting to the Ibrance). Last night was my first night taking the Ibrance (125mg) and Letrozole without having steroids in me and I laid down at a little before 8 pm and slept till 5 a.m. only waling a few times like I normally do to use the restroom. I was so tired today I opted to work from home. Still dragging a bit now.

Have a wonderful weekend!

What a journey!

Sucks. And I hate that word. It is surreal at times. It has made me live with greater awareness and appreciation, but wish I attained enlightenment at a yoga ranch in Cancun.

I take it in the morning because of all the water that is needed, but I doubt that it makes a difference.

I’ve only taken Ibrance at night. I take it with dinner...or after dinner. Apparently taking it with food is not to protect your stomach, but to increase the effectiveness of the drug.

I too take both Ibrance and letrozole after dinner. I read also to take it with food increases effectiveness. It's also easier for me to remember when I feed my dogs it's time for pills :)

I take it after dinner around 6:00-7:00 each night.

I take mine after supper to ensure I have food with it. I’m not sure if the time of day makes any difference with side effects. Whatever time of day works best for you is what counts.

Hi Gwennie, I had taken Ibrance for about 20 months at breakfast time. I also read some were taking Ibrance in the evening, so on my last cycle, I strarted taking it at dinner time, as you need to take with a meal, I believe.

I have not noticed any difference in taking it in the morning or early evening, but wanted try it. I plan to go back to late morning (breakfast) as I still am in that morning habit......thinking, oh, I have to take my pills. I wish it had worked to help me be drowsy at night, as I don’t sleep well. Even Hydrocodone 7.5 mg at night doesn’t make me real drowsy. Everyone is so different. Hope Ibrance works a long time for you. Ibrance/Letrozole worked for 29 months, but Letrozole failed ( with a small new tumor in a vertebrae. Now on Ibrance /Faslodex. The Onc. Gave me a choice to stay on Ibrance (75 mg) or not. I chose to continue.

I always take IBrance at night. I have less side effects (fatigue) than when I originally took it in the morning. I sleep better too! ❤️🙏❤️
