Best Time to Take IBrance? Morning or Evening?

hopenowandtomorrow profile image

I am considering changing the time I take IBrance from morning to evening. My hope is it will help reduce my afternoon fatigue & maybe sleep better at night. Does anyone have experiences you can share? Thank you!

I doubt the time you take these meds makes any difference...as they work for 24 hours

However I always took mine after my evening meal and I didn’t suffer afternoon fatigue

Just try it and see...we’re all different

Good luck

I agree with Barb's suggestion re: maybe sleeping through the fatigue... :) If you have the soon-to-be-obsolete capsules, you do need to take those with food and I read something on this site about the type of food...like a combo of fats + ???. If you've transitioned to the tablets, apparently you can take those with or without food...

I take mine around 6pm after my tea which is better for me than the morning

I take mine in the evening as well, after my meal. I don’t find I get tired from it the longer I’m on it.

My doctor recommended I take it at night since she heard patients talk about fatigue after morning dosage.

I have always taken mine after my evening meal. I don’t usually experience fatigue during the day except during the last day or two before I start another cycle, I guess this is when my WBC is at its lowest.

I have always taken my Ibrance (30 cycles ) after my evening meal around 7 pm , with a good meal ( containing protein and fats for better absorption) . The main thing is to drink lots of water ( I even have a bottle by my bed ) and decaf drinks . My fatigue towards the end of the cycle of Ibrance has lessened the longer I have been on it , so hope that is the same for you . x

Hi , I have always taken my ibrance in the evening from day 1 since 2018. It works fine. My onco actually told me to do that. In terms of tiredness we are all different and recently I am just getting more tired when I am on my last few tablets at the end of 2 weeks on and I think that’s my neutrophils. Anyway in response to your original question , tried tested and works for me . God bless

I don't know which is best. I take mine in the morning because of the water we need to drink with it. No idea which is best or whether it matters. Best wishes. Blessings Hannah

I’ve been taking it in the morning after breakfast for 4 years now. I really think the fatigue is more a function of what is going on in your blood than anything else. I’m on 100 mg which is working but does cause low wbc ... causing me fatigue and also low platelets and neutrophils. It’s working tho so I’ll stick with it despite fatigue for about one week a month. Have taken an extra week break when the wbc is super low but only needed to do that 5 times in the last 4 years. Hope this helps. Blessings in your MBC journey!

for me, it's been the evening, after dinner, since treatment started in Aug 2015. still notice fatigue toward the end of the cycle, particularly in the afternoons, which is WBC lowering. it does affect my sleep, and am ok with that, as resting as needed is available.

Love hearing you’ve been on ibrance going on 5 years! Makes me feel hopeful to read you’re doing so well. All best regards, Kathleen

I take my in the evening with food. I find it helps me sleep and lessens any feeling of side effects as I'm asleep.

I've only taken it at night, just before dinner, 2+ years now. I also take a sleep aid. I don't think time frame makes a difference.

Thank you all for your responses! I see the vast majority take it in the evening. I’ll be switching to evening on my next cycle! ❤️🙏❤️

I’ve always taken it right before bed and I sleep pretty well.

Thank you all so much for this advice. I am going to try switching to evening. I have always taken in morning and find that after 1 pm I am pretty much worthless as far as accomplishing anything is concerned.

I used to take it in the morning after breakfast because it was my most regular meal. I seriously believe fatigue has to do with 3 things. How your system is coping with it in any given cycle (my experiences differ all the time), drinking enough water (!!), and getting enough exercise because ultimately, exercising regularly boosts your endurance, and during treatment it becomes more essential to our wellbeing. Studies have proven this and I’ve seen the results with clients of mine.

Yesterday afternoon I got the fatigues and thought about lying down- but knew it was my only chance for a bit of cardio (And I had a string of things to do) so I took the dog for a walk. Bingo! Felt much better for it and that horrible drag left me, AND, major success, I actually got that giant load of washing done!

For some reason that I’ve forgotten I switched to evening time for the pill. But I find it too easy to forget until it’s late. And also the issue I have with night time is being able to drink enough water. My body craves water with this pill. If you don’t mind getting up at night once or twice then it’s ok, that’s my nightly ritual now. (Lol too forgetful to switch back to morning pill when I start each cycle and now it’s habit)

I take my Ibrance and Letrozole together mid morning after I have some breakfast. I do feel fatigued in the afternoon and usually lie down to read and nap most afternoons - if I am sleepy. I do get quite fatigued during the 3rd week (I take it for 21 days on and 7 days off). I think you all must take it like that. I am on my second day of rest right now and already feel a bit better. I have a hard time remembering to drink enough water though. So now I have started filling a 6 cup water jug and try to get that into my body along with other beverages such as green tea and my calcium drink. I would like to switch to taking the Palbociclib in the evening but think I might actually forget to take it. I am going to give this some more thought. It does seem to be the preferred method for most of you ladies. It might help me to sleep more soundly. I also find it hard to add all the nutrients that I think I need into my diet. But my nails and hair started to really get bad and I thought I was losing hair. So now I make a drink of rice milk, mixed with freshly ground flax seeds, chia seeds, protein powder (vegan) and crushed and ground organic egg shells. I think this drink is already helping. But I have only been doing it for just over a week. So I have to be patient. I will let you all know if it helps my nails and hair. Hugs Marlene
