Hi ladies, hope you're doing welland i send a bunch of courage for those trying to cope.
I have to deal with severe anxiety and i have the feeling that it is becoming something bigger and bigger in a very short time. I usually am extremely actic and now nothing. it's terrible.
I have an appoitement with a psychiatrist on Monday and I Am just wondering if some of you have been given Prozac for severe anxiety. My Ca markers are going down so it should be recomforting a for me but it's quite the reverse.
Before Prozac, consider something else like Xanax. I was very very anxious when I went off the pill. I literally took .25 Xanax and it went away. I still take one at night to starve off the anxiety my mind can play in my sleep...and I sleep through the night!
Have you tried other methods such as cognitive behaviour therapy, hypnosis and meditation. I fear about dependency on drugs and getting into a vicious circle. These other therapies have helped me along at times of difficulty, just having someone interested and taking it seriously is part of the recovery I found. I wish you well. X
I used Xanax in the first few months for severe anxiety and after a scan when we saw improvement, my oncologist suggested a working with a psychiatrist (since Xanax is okay for short term but not long term) and he suggested Lexapro. It really helps and I was able to wean off the Xanax. I still take .25 Xanax before going to bed and it helps me sleep through the night.
Personally, I finally got really angry about how much of my life anxiety was taking from me. I already do all the usual stuff to reduce anxiety then had a talk with my Psychiatrist (I'm already on an antidepressant) and he suggested a little anti-anxiety medication named Buspar and take it daily not just when I felt anxious and for me it has changed my life tremendously. Until the anxiety left, I had no idea that I was living in a perpetual state of nervousness. People even comment about the change they hear in my voice and see me actually completing projects. I am over 7 yrs in this journey and have been lucky to pretty much be maintained on Faslodex.
I was on Prozac for 6 years but had to change to Lexapro when I started Ibrance due to drug interaction. It’s not as good for the anxiety as the Prozac was, but I avoid my anxiety situations. I’ve used Xanax too, but the doctors get all worked up about addiction. I don’t have an addictive personality. Good luck, anxiety is such a debilitating problem and most of our fears never happen. 🍀
I also take xanax for anxiety. Although, antidepressants like prozac are very helpful. There are many antidepressants that are effective and you may need to try different ones til you find what works for you. When my husband passed away, I was perscribed Zoloft which worked for me. Many side effects with antidepressants so again, there are many types. I also speak to a psychologist weekly and that has really helped me.
