i am wondering if anyone has broken a bone while in treatment and how did drugs effect the healing process?
A month ago I was hit by a motorcycle crossing the street. Humerus arm bone was broken. A rod and screws were inserted. It is hard to be active with one arm so healing requires immense patience with myself -- and help from my boyfriend cutting up vegetables and grocery shopping.
Since Fulvestrant is an estrogenblocker and bones need estrogen for strength....am wondering. i will see my oncologist in 3 weeks and discuss then but if anyone has had bone break experience?

I broke my 5th. metatarsal bone in my right foot. When I asked my oncologist if the Fluvestrant would inhibit the bone from healing, she said no. My bone is 75% healed in 9 weeks. I am also about to start using a machine called a bone stimulator. No doctor seems to be concerned. Lastly, I’m taking Kisqali, 400 mg. daily. I am being patient with myself. Hope my story is encouraging.
thank you Jubilee1874, very helpful. Oncologist is adding Verzenio to my protocol next month.
I started acupuncture this week. It relaxes me overall and he said will increase blood flow to aid bone healing. He is also doing overall tonifying esp of spleen. I am sleeping more soundly.
I had four fractures in my pelvis. It didn't cause me any pain or discomfort. People were incredulous when I told them so I eventually didn't say anything. It is a slow growing MBC and slow healing. That was a couple of years ago so I am going to see if they mention it on an upcoming bone scan and ask my oncologist about it. This happened when I was on the med. before Fulvestrant..
thanks for sharing. its so helpful to hear of your experiences- different yet similar. I am 4 weeks into healing spiral fracture of humerus bone and having to cultivate patience and more patience -- acupuncture helps to calm my nerves.
I am so sorry you were hit by a motorcycle and sustained these injuries . I fell and broke my wrist 6 weeks from when I started fulvestrant/ibrace. My wrist healed within the expected time . I had a cast , didn't need surgery . The orthopedic doctor and my oncologist never mentioned a concern about the fulvestrant or Ibrance and healing so I hope there isn't an issue and you heal up as good as new .
