I saw my oncologist yesterday. I was expecting bad news, but not this.
In 60 days I went from having only 2 one cm+ and 5 sub-centimeter liver lesions to 15-20 lesions with one large new one pulling the capsule into the liver causing a good bit of pain. There are nodules and fluid in my pelvis, as well as a mass and pleural effusion in my lung.
The plan is to start chemo next Friday and was told I would never be able to go back to oral treatment. I'm not sure.
I knew I felt horrible. I just wasn't expecting this.

Hi AndiBoy you were feeling rough, and it’s no wonder. I can’t help but think anyone else would have been completely off their game, and feet, with that going on. You certainly are one very strong lady, and that is what will get you through the chemo. Get through that bit first. I am gutted for you about this news, but as always am here for you

The kind of news we all hope we won't get. I like the previous responses - you have a great medical team, you are on your feet despite..., and let's hope that chemo knocks it right out and makes you feel better. -- I remember when I started my initial treatment, I went from being unable to walk down the hall to the bathroom to being able to trot up hill. The relief is amazing, when it works. From what I have read, chemo may be the last resort but it is the most effective. Go for it!
Oh, my gosh, dear Andi! I'm so sorry to read this, what a shock/jolt it must be!
I, myself, am getting this sense of having lived in the "la la la" phase of MBC, then being catapulted into the "OMFG" phase...I can imagine what you're feeling and...it's not good!
But...BUT...as we've both seen in this community over the years, some hardcore chemo is often just the thing to push things back, or at least hold them at bay?
I'm sending all good things to the Universe for that chemo to slaughter cancer cells!!
I've been encouraged to read here, many times, that IV chemo is not only "not as bad" as we fear, but sometime actually easier than the oral stuff. I certainly hope this is true for you....
I’m so sorry you had to get that news. I can only imagine how you felt hearing it. Hoping the chemo, as others have also said here, does a great job knocking it back, and isn’t half as bad as you might fear it to be. Which treatment have you been taking recently? And which chemo have they suggested for you?

Hi Andi,I read your previous post, they seems never give you any treatment related to your BRCA mutation. There are some oral pills for BRCA mutation and it works on me. You might want to ask your doctor about it.

Oh, I am so sorry! That has got to be so beyond frightening! In my long MBC journey, I have known women who have had cancer way outta control and then had a change in meds that turns things around dramatically! It's so darn hard to have so little control over what's happening in our bodies! You and your medical team are in my prayers! Know that you have friends here and that you can always cry, blow off steam, whatever you need,, here with us. Big gentle hugs (((hug)))
Hi Andi,To hear the news is numbing. I agree with PJBInmi, so many women had a change in meds and are achieving improvement. There are also many clinical trials for BRCA. Not sure if you have asked your medical team if there would be a benefit of trying any. I’m sending you hugs and good vibes. I’ll keep you in my thoughts for a miraculous recovery. As you can see we are all here to support you through this. We understand the fear, uncertainty and unknown of this unpredictable cancer. We know things can get better, if you ever doubt your treatment ask more docs. Hugs to you❤️
Andy, I feel you. I am in a similar situation. A dear lady from this site advised me, no matter what to stay positive. She is right. Stay positive Andi, do whatever it takes to give yourself relaxation every day. We need it, it's a tough ride. Sending virtual hugs.
Dear Andi, I am so sorry that you got this bad news. I myself was on the edge of death and had been bombarded with horrifying news not long ago, so I understand how daunting and frustrating this might be for you and your family...I pray that the chemo will knock all the cancer cells dead and you have a complete remission and recovery!
Has your oncologist mentioned any promising trial that you might be able to participate? Would you be eligible for the new oncolytic virus trial (A Study of CF33-hNIS (VAXINIA), an Oncolytic Virus, as Monotherapy or in Combination With Pembrolizumab in Adults With Metastatic or Advanced Solid Tumors - Full Text View - ClinicalTrials.gov)?

So very sorry to hear your prognosis, my Oncologist told me there is an Immune Therapy Chemo pill to take , not sure if you have tried this treatment also before Chemo by IV or a port , prayers with you, we are all praying for you , hang in there and stay strong
Oh so sorry about your news. From one large liver leision to another it is frustrating. Mine is 9 cm and my onocologyst has put me on xeloda. It is kicking me, but she also has to adjust. I am have bad pains in my stomach and hand issues. Ct scan next month to see how the liver is.
Is this the chemo xeloda your Dr is putting you on? Keep hanging in there!!!!

My hopes and prayers are with you. I am having a bad weekend. Have had diarrhea since Thursday and I am so fearful of being taken off Ibrance as well. On call doctor said to stop it for several days and call my Onocologist and see what he advises. Love you and you are in my prayers.
Hi Andi, sorry you have received this news. I am no expert but here in the U.K. with the NHS once you move on from targeted therapy to chemotherapy there is no chance to go back. I moved on to oral chemo last month (Capecitabine) and so far I’ve none of the scary side effects. Once your body stops responding to targeted treatment, or the cancer outwits them, it’s time to move on. My tumour markers have dropped over 100 in my first cycle. I didn’t hesitate to move on from a treatment that wasn’t working to one I am hopeful will work and give me more precious time.

Hi Andi: Never say nevCer! You might be able to go back on oral meds. And don't worry about the report. I was sure a year ago I was on my way down with my lung mets but not so.
I’m sorry you are having this set back. It is hard to endure but your medical team will find the best meds to kick the cancer back.
I have seen on this board Oncs giving the right chemo for the right task at hand. I’m not a medical person but isn’t the liver an organ that can regenerate itself? New meds are released so often …that gives us all hope.
