Has anyone gone from having breast metastasis to having Leukemia? My tumor markers have been going up each month. I am due for a PET scan in March. I am wondering if I now have Leukemia after looking up the symptoms I have several. I have lost weight without trying, nosebleed that wouldn't stop, unexplained stomach bloating and now my white count is low. If this has happened to any of you can you tell me how they diagnosed the Leukemia? I am stage 4 MBC patient.
Thank you
Mimi

You dont say what medicine you take but the nose bleeds is a rare side effect of Ibrance if you’re taking that, the low white blood count is also a side effect of Ibrance, I’m not sure but I think detecting leukemia is just a blood test I would just call your oncologist if you’re worried and ask him I mean he’s seen all your test results if that was a concern of his he would ask for more tests I would think I know how easy it is to let the critter brain go crazy with this disease we have we are always worried it’s progressing or it’s turning into something else or all kinds of things that’s not usually the case but as I said if you are concerned I definitely would talk to my oncologist. Sooner rather than later!
I take Ibrance and last month I thought I had leukemia when I saw my blood test results. My dr assured me that it’s the Ibrance and I don’t have leukemia!!!
Thank you for your reply. I know when we have the slightest thring wrong we go crazy thinking it’s the worst thing wrong. I asked my doctor to order a leukemia test. I’m not sure yet if she will.
Thank you for your reply I am not on Ibrance. I stopped it 4 years ago. I wanted to try to control it without Ibrance.I did put a request into my oncologist to have the leukemia test done we will see what she says as she wasn’t in the office today.
Mimi i am bone mets since 2018 and sept last year was diagnosed with MDS (pre leukemia). I had consistent very low blood counts and extreme fatigue for a year prior. They diagnosed when they saw ‘blasts’ in my cbc labs , but that alone is not sufficient for diagnosis. Only a bone marrow biopsy will confirm MDS or leukemia. Best of luck on your journey! Jo
