After 10 days of anxiously waiting, I got my scan results yesterday.
On a positive note, my bones are still stable & my lymph node under my arm has shrunk slightly.
Unfortunately, my lungs & liver are showing significant progression.
It’s so disappointing after going through so much chemo, my latest line was Eribulin.
I’m fortunate in that I am still feeling well & not in any pain. I’m not showing any symptoms other than tiredness & getting out of breath if I walk too far. On the whole, my quality of life is good.
I’ve been offered gem carbo to try next …
I’m going away to Tenerife on Sunday for 5 nights with my sister & hope to be swimming in the pool in the photo at our hotel.☀️🏊♂️🍸🥂🍾🏖☀️
Hubby Steve & Teddy 🐶 will be home alone 🤣
I will think about things whilst I’m away.
Very best wishes to you all on world cancer day.
Jo xx

Dearest Jo,So sorry to hear about the progression but happy to hear that your quality of life is good! Hope you and your sister have a lovely vacation!
Hope you have a lovely sunshine break away from it all and come back ready to face the new challenge ! Sending love and hugs x 💕
I share your disappointment. You are wise to embrace your sunny and warm vacation now. Push the rest away if you can while at this lovely spot. Try to order a drink with an umbrella in it. This place is gorgeous. You deserve it!
I have no idea if this is possible in your case, but could you ask about localized liver treatment—Y 90 or ablation or…? It seems as your quality of life is so high that you might be a candidate. It wouldn’t help the lungs but might reduce tumor burden a bit otherwise?
I’m making this up and am not a doctor of course, but why not ask?
Did you ever try Xeloda? Many women have had success on that as well.
In the meantime enjoy Tenerife! That hotel looks gorgeous 🌞🕶
Hi joSorry there has been progression in some areas but you do sound positive and ready to face the challenge of new meds. In the meantime enjoy Tenerife and the lovely sunshine.
What a beautiful respite you are going to enjoy! Sorry you weren't happy with scan results and pray that your new protocol will be successful. God bless you, Jo!
We seem to have had similar results from our CT scans. I was very disappointed today when my CT scan indicated that my targeted drug had not improved my lung and liver mets. Like you, though, I seem to be in relatively good health for someone of my age and medical history.
I've yet to take any chemotherapy. I'm not planning to take any meds for my liver as long as my liver enzymes are in the normal range. There seems little can be done specifically for the lung mets. Fortunately, they too seem to be slow-growing.
I hope your lovely island vacation gives you the break you need to reflect on what to do next.
Jo, I’m so sorry you have received disappointing scan results, but admire your fortitude. Have a wonderful holiday with your sister and come back ready to crack on. (And you won’t have to do a mandatory Covid test on your return!) ✈️☀️🍹🤩
I'm sorry about your disappointment with the scan. I'm Happy you still have quality of life. Go enjoy that VACATION!!! You and your sister at that beautiful resort!!! 🌞🍷🙏
Jo, drat drat drat on the scan news. But that pool. I am a swimmer and Tenerife looks like just what the doctor ordered! My favorite pool to date is the one at the Biltmore in Coral Gables. It is amazing how therapeutic a stay like this near water will be. Soak in and just escape and enjoy!Carol
I am so glad that you are feeling well and pain free . Your little get away looks and sounds great for the soul . I hope your weather is perfect . This roller coaster of a disease is exhausting , a recharge may be just what you need to tackle this new treatment.
Sending positive vibes for an effective , but gentle on you treatment plan .
Dear Jo, I too am so sorry about the progression you are experiencing but glad that you feel well and are not having pain. You have always shown a positive outlook in your posts and it is good that you feel comfortable with your quality of life. That is most important in dealing with MBC. I think it is great you are traveling with your sister to a beautiful place. Love the photo you shared. Have never been to Tenerife but it looks awesome. Have a wonderful time and try to live in the moments you are spending with your sister. Sending hugs.
I’m sorry about the progression in liver and lungs but you have another drug treatment on way and there will be more and newer ones. Your break with your sister at that wonderful place looks perfect. It will revive your sole, increase vitamin “D” and reinforce your incredible attitude
I’m so sorry to hear your scan results showed more significant progression. That sucks! This beautiful place looks like the perfect respite to enjoy, replenish your soul, and reflect on what’s next. Perhaps a second opinion for an alternative option? I’m glad you’re feeling freeof pain and are able to get away and have a break with your sister. Soak up all that goodness!
Hi Jo- sorry to hear the news… glad you aren’t in any pain.. that seems positive. I just got my results too. Similar mixed bag like you… bones stable and some new area that sounds like abdomen to have to get a PET scan to see. Alway waiting for the other show to drop. I love your plan to be I crhT gorgeous pool! Send pics so we can live vicariously through you!
Dear Jo - Very sorry to hear about the progression. I'm glad you're feeling well and are heading out on a vacation. I confess I had to look up Tenerife - I had no idea where it was, but wow - looks incredible. Go, enjoy, relax. Come back strong and rested, ready to take on the next challenge.
So sorry to hear the news. Be strong we are all in this to fight it. I know they will change treatment but can I ask you what ones are you on? I’m praying for all and wish for the best!🙏✝️
I am crying with you today, but will be drinking wine with you and your sister Sunday. 🥂 A relaxing five nights is just what you need. I am pulling for you. Blessings, Hannah
Oh Jo I am gutted for you. All that chemo and you have got through it so well. The break will do you wonders I am sure, and you can live up to your name. I could lie in that pool all day long.
ow long and how did you do with Eribulin? I just started. My first injection chemo. If you are having breathing problems, you might check for plural infusion. (fluid around the lungs). Mine was bad, caused by the cancer. Once removed, felt better.
Do have a great time with your sister in what looks like paradise. Sunshine, and 1 drink a day can't hurt Sunnydrinking😀. I hope/pray your next treatmen will kick C's a--. Oops forgive me LORD. Enjoy your vacation as I will live vicariously through you.😇
I am sorry to hear about your progression. I just had a scan in January and liver tumor had grown a bit but they are keeping me on Eribulin but keeping a close eye on it. My lung tumors are stable. When Eribulin stops they are putting me on Doxirubin. Glad you are feeling well. I too struggle with fatigue. I am going in for cataract surgery on both eyes. I will be so happy to have clear vision again.
