Pray for good results fromPet Scan

If you don’t know me, I was diagnosed with MBC in May of 2018. I’m going for a pet scan today. I’ve been having this pain in my left side. I thought I’d fractured my ribs, since I have fractured several bones since I’m still waiting to get back on Xgeva (which helps my bones) due to my bone infection in my mouth, which aches as I type this. I go for a pet scan today to see what’s going on. I pray it’s not got in to my lungs or any organ. Thank you, Robin Peacock

I hope you will receive a good result from the PET CT scan. It is easy for us to think the worst when we have an ache or pain, but it may be completely unrelated to the cancer.

Dear Robin,

Hoping for the best results from the scan. We all worry about having these and any little ache or pain I get makes me wonder if there’s further metastasis. So far it’s been something unrelated.

Hi peacock, is the bone infection in your mouth treatable and reversible? I am afraid of Xgeva because of possible jaw necrosis so I haven't started it despite my bone mets.. You are the second person that I have read about that went off it for awhile and will go back on. I thought ONJ was progressive and there was no cure. Sounds like I am wrong on that. (?) I also heard that going off Xgeva abruptly can cause fractures. I too had very serious pain in my left side starting a week and a half ago and it is slowly subsiding. My pancreatic enzymes were normal and my spleen was not enlarged. A PA at my oncologist office said that rib cartilage can sometimes become inflamed for no reason even in healthy people and it goes away on it's own.. Hopefully you don't have a fracture. My pain came on so suddenly, woke up with it. I will find out in upcoming scans what is going on, same as you. Good luck!!!!!
