Just to say thankyou to all those who helped me by posting re stressful time waiting for first scan. I have just put the telephone down. My cancer is stable and fluid on pleura less apparently. She also said my bones were showing white patches which was a good sign.
So all in all after 3 cycles no spread.
I am now going to celebrate by going to see my little grandson, 11months and tell him we will have such fun this summer.
Love you all
Debra ❤️

Wonderful news, Debra! I am very happy for you. I hope you are currently enjoying your visit with your grandson. However, I guess it is supper time in Britain as I know England is six hours ahead of Saskatchewan.
I had a CT scan done this morning at a local hospital. An hour later, the results of the scan appeared on my "ehealthrecord" so I already know the results. I don't know whether your NHS has embraced the idea of patients having direct access to medical reports, but I certainly find it useful to have almost immediate access to both lab reports and medical imagining reports. All I had to do was register online with my health card number, etc.
Hi CindyYes I’ve had a lovely day thanks. Yes it’s bedtime here for my grandson.
We don’t have that facility re the ehealthrecords as yet but that would be so good and less stressful waiting.Hope your results were ok and many thanks for the best wishes.
I’m also happy today as I have visited Canada quite a few times and loved Tim Hortons decaf coffee and I’ve just seen in the local newspaper, a Tim Hortons is opening on my local outlet park. First one in the North of England.
Hi Debra,A friend of mine, a fellow Canadian, now lives in Warwick. She moved there to be close to her 7 year-old grandson after her husband died a year ago. I'll have to ask Marilyn whether she has a Tim Horton's nearby.
My CT results were mixed - some liver issues indicate a possible MRI, otherwise stable disease. Undoubtedly, the oncologist will think I should go off tamoxifen so I'll need to do some research on the issue. Although it's wonderful to have "free" health care, I find that physicians here are not interested in research, and simply want to prescribe whatever is the latest drug. Ah well, no system is perfect!
P.S. I am in the UK, Debra, and have access to a patient portal. My oncologist is the one who brought it up and asked if I wanted to sign up, so I did. It is worth looking into if you want to have access to your health records.
Hi Sophie, Wow that's amazing! Is this a new thing? I would be so keen to access mine. Does it allow access to both your GP notes and your hospital notes (all departments) or is it just your oncology records? Vicki
I have access to my hospital records, but not my records from my GP practice. I don’t know if it’s new or not, but when my oncologist suggested it I jumped on it, as she knows I like to be kept in the loop.
We have that here but it isn't as efficient as yours . I go in to get results of blood work and it will say pending till ( sometimes 48 hrs or more) and for CT or sonograms it still is a week. I actually think the doctors here ask to see the reports first then if they want they release it to the portal. So I still have that wait time and stress.
Definitely doesn't sound as efficient, but, at least, you can see past reports, and don't have to totally rely on whatever you're told! I keep copies of the lab and imagining reports so I can look back at trends.
In order to have a copy of what the staff at the cancer center write, I have to ask there for a copy, or have one emailed to me. I've never seen any notes my GP puts on her file, so the Canadian system still needs work too.
Lovely news Debra , and after only 3 months you are doing well ! (My oncologist wouldn’t scan before 6 months for my bone Mets ) Now enjoy the Spring ! (tho’ very blustery here last 2 days ! )Take care! x
That is really good news! You must feel so happy and relieved to receive such good news. I hope you are able to fully enjoy spending time with your grandson without the worry of waiting for results.
Take care,
Sophie
Hi Debra wonderful news. This should continue now for a while so you can enjoy life with your Grandson and not get too hung up on the scans. Once you are stable for a while your appointments will get reduced as well, freeing up more time.
Hi Debbie, and welcome to this group where you'll find such useful information and support. I am so pleased you got good scan results and you can breath again until the next time. I don't think there is any way to avoid being anxious around scans. My oncologist has pushed mine to every 6 - 8 months which worries me a bit as it is a long time but then again the exposure to radiation is also a worry - no win situation really!! 😉
Hello Debra! So glad to hear the good news @ your scans. So many of us can relate to the “scan anxiety”...and it helps to have access to a patient portal where the test results are posted as soon as the doctor has reviewed the tests. Sometimes it’s hard to interpret what the results mean but you. An always post your questions right there and the responses come back from the doctor without having to make appointments. Good luck with your treatments...and stay positive because there is an energy that keeps us going when the body is struggling. 😍
