After reading so many posts about taxol failing I am really depressed. I have been on so many treatments that have failed and now agreed to chemo as last resort. But now I read how this has failed so many. I realise this disease will never go away but I just wanted a little hope that it may work. But no. The more negative reports it has failed the worse my days get so I am thinking of leaving this site. Paclitaxel is the full name. We all know what the outcome of this disease could be but just a little hope that we won't leave our beloved family just yet could help. Now all that has gone.

April Rose,Taxol has done wonders for a number of stage 4 folks. It is considered a wonder drug because it works well on a number of different cancers. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right drug for a patient. There are many things to consider besides the type of cancer, biology of cancer, size, location, etc. It will help if you take some deep breaths when you feel stressed. Stage 4 is a hard diagnosis. As time goes by we learn to live with it better and to be thankful for the small things and you will too. Peace and blessings to you. Hannah
I’m so sorry you’re feeling so discouraged. I will echo some of what Sandra says. You need assistance to manage your depression. We need to be as vigorous about our mental well being as we are our physical health. Please, speak with your doctor, nurse or social worker assigned to your care. There are tele health counselors available if you’re hesitant about going to an office.
As for others having success or not with some treatments, it’s not 1 size fits all.
We are all unique. Some people can eat chocolate. Some people get a rash if they eat chocolate.
Bottom line — please let us know that you reached out for help with your anxiety and depression.
Hi April Rose I am sorry you are feeling so down .
I have completed 6 rounds of Paclitaxel ( started January 2021) and I am now continuing with perjeta & herceptin. All are IV administered. BUT I feel better than I have in the past year & half . I am also taking exemestane. My last scan showed a good response to the Paclitaxel.I have scans again in jan / feb .
If you have any questions please feel free to ask .
Go to your dr about your feelings of depression , please reach out for help .

There is always hope. We are all different in our responses to meds. Just because it doesn't work for some doesn't mean it won't work for you.
Dear April Rose, I'm so sorry you are feeling so down. These two books help me feel positive every time I read them :
Radical Remission by Kelly Turner and The Blue Zones Kitchen by Dan Buettner. Treat yourself to buying them, and see if doing some of the things helps you to feel better, a bit more hopeful.
Big hugs, xxxx
Hope your spirits rise soon. We all have had those “down” days. I had 13 rounds of Taxol when my hemoglobin tanked and a bone marrow biopsy (OUCH) showed cancer cells. Taxol did its job. That was over 3 years ago. Hang in there!
I am on my sixth year with stage IV MBC. I started out on Taxol with great results and very little side effects. I did lose my hair but it has come back now. I am done with Taxol and I am now on Herceptin and Anastrozole and just had my 104th infusion. I have a lot of fatigue and aches and pains but it hasn’t stopped me from traveling and enjoying life. Don’t give up or give in. Keep fighting like your life depends on it - it does!
Thanks, again for your positive vibes. They always help me.Mary
Sandra, I am in Ontario and all the American women talk about genomic sequencing testing. Should I have this done and does the govt pay for this? If I have to pay myself any idea of the cost? Are there drugs to cover various mutations other than Piqray? I respect your knowledge on MBC. Love reading what you write.
Thanks Sandra. I really appreciate your feedback. We always hear about Piqray, but I do not believe I hear of other mutations that have drugs targeted for them. I will not get too hasty about having this testing done.
