Unexpected developments after good PET

A little over a month ago, I shared that PET results came back without progression with some mild improvement. In the meantime, I experienced tingling and decreased sensitivity in the leg leg. I had a spine MRI that showed some changes that my radiation oncologist thought to be due to last year radiation! It didn’t completely make sense for me, but symptoms were minimal and I went with my husband on his dream trip to Jack Daniels and Kentucky bourbon trail. Plus, a few other awesome places.

Symptoms in the leg leg worsened and some right leg is somehow effected, but not to that degree. So the trip was cut short, I got back home, got admitted to MSKCC and had a surgery to alleviate the compression.

The surgery went well, and after spending some time in the hospital, I got transferred to the acute inpatient rehab facility to learn how to walk again!

I can’t even believe to tell you how frustrating this new development.

Still waiting for complete pathology results and 🤞that I can continue my current Ibrance/letrozole regimen. Ibrance was d/ due to surgery and I’m still off.

This is a nightmare! Really hoping to see some improvement!

That is a nightmare! Was there compression on the nerves in your spine? How did they surgically relieve the pressure? Are you feeling better I hope and able to walk.

I so hear you....I am dealing with dropped left foot, which is making me crazy. May be side effect of hip rads. Five doctors at MSKCC involved in figuring this out. Had 2 MBC tumors there...nothing else. Now this 2.5 years later. May be sciatica close to there. Maddening. May you have smooth rehab!!

I am so sorry. Scary nightmare. I have had neuropathy? in my feet but never in my legs. Prayers offered for a resolution to your problem.

I'm praying for a speedy recovery for you! That really is a nightmare. I have radiation induced neuropathy...and my radiation was 7 years ago! Crazy.

Oh my goodness- I’m so sorry to hear this, how awful! We did part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail in 2019, as it is also my husband’s dream - we will be going back! Here’s to you being pain free and getting out of rehab quickly!🥃 Blessings to you, my dear🙏

So I am curious what surgery they performed? It sounds like they moved very quickly to operate! I hope your healing progresses well and all is well with keeping on the same meds
