Orange peal skin
Thank you girlsptz that was very helpful and reassuring to me. The skin has suddenly gone hard and dimpled. Just in one place the same side as the 2 tumours. Not red or painful at all. I am not clever with all this so appreciate your help so thank you again.
I have a friend who had it. She had it on one side and had a mastectomy. Then the other breast got what she called "orange peel skin." She couldn't get her docs to pay attention, but she knew better. Turned out to be a very aggressive cancer. She had a second mastectomy (and, I think, chemo) and all is well, but she is wary. She got tested and it turns out she has the BRCA gene. So press this with your doctors. Get them to test.
I did...that's what alerted my breast surgeon that there was an issue despite having a clean mammogram/ultrasound.
Hi Aprilrose, as others have said, I would also urge you to get this checked out. It can be one of the symptoms of breast cancer, in particular, Triple-Negative. Sending you good thoughts, Ellen
This is usually associated with an aggressive form of breast cancer
Orange peel skin is very often associated with Inflammatory Breast Cancer (I think what everyone is referring to here as "very aggressive cancer"). I had it with my original diagnosis back in 2002. It looks just as it says, and feels the same as well. Let me know if you have any questions about it.
