CT Scan results - confused

Hi everyone. I had my results today and a chat with my Oncologist. My Bone and Lung Metastasis are stable but………I have a few more cysts in my liver. My Oncologist said that my bloods are always fine, my weight is steady and I’m tolerating my meds.

He said the Radiologist didn’t explain in much detail about the increase but he has a monthly meeting with them and it’s on the 30th July. He will make an appointment for me to see him straight after to discuss the issue and change my meds if need be.

I asked about symptoms of Cancerous Cysts and he explained have loss of weight and appetite. Feeling nauseous (I do most days anyway but it passes). Feeling tired, in this heat I can understand that.

I need an upshot on this. Have any of you lovely ladies had a increase in liver cysts and how did you feel.

Hope you are all ok.

Thanks

Hi CherylThat must have knocked the wind out of your sails a bit hearing that.

All I can say, is thank goodness for Sandra’s response. That will put your mind at rest I am sure.

My car said it was 32 degrees today - unheard of here. Must be hotter with you?

Hi Clare, it did knock me for six I must say. Just want the 30th to come now for the update. It was 34 deg in the shed at the allotment today. Crazy. We are not made for it here. Showers tomorrow hopefully. Have a good weekend and will update you.

Try not to worry and enjoy the weekend. Our blood is like treacle in the UK so it’s a complete shock to the system when the heat arrives isn’t it?

Been occupied guess where? Been wonderful weather today. A lovely breeze to cool us down. I know our blood is so thick. Don’t we feel it. Climate change has a lot to answer for. Hope you have had a good weekend Clare. No rain in sight. My stepdaughter is at the Lattitude Festival in Suffolk. Bet it’s hot there. Talk soon xx

Your 2nd home, the allotment 😂. It’s been lovely here too. I’ve been going for evening swims in the sea. Rain is due Tuesday.Glad the allotment has been keeping you occupied

H Cheryl ! I live in Arizona and 114 degrees is HOT. I think you should celebrate your recent positive scans. While I don't have liver mets, I do know that what Sandra mentioned is "hot on!".

Blessings. Do not worry. Take the time to breathe and be positive !

Thank you Julia. My goodness how do you keep so cool in those temperatures. We have 3 fans going and I even sat with my feet in a bowl of cold water. I love Sandras input. She has this way of reassuring us. I felt better for reading all the replies. Take care

It's a dry heat (lol), kinda like putting your head inside an oven. Only a few months of heat here, and then everything is back to normal. At Christmastime, we run the air conditioner so we can light a fire in the fireplace. LOL ! Just kidding xoxo

Liver cysts are benign , I work in radiology and we see a lot of liver cysts in patients.

Ah! That's good to know!

Thank you so much for the info. I guess none of us want to hear anything but the normal ( if that’s possible with MBC).Your input has helped me tremendously.

Best wishes

I'm a long timer with mbc (17 years as of 3/21) and I cannot tell you how many times a radiologist's report has sent me and my onc on wild goose changes trying to track down what the radiologist's report suggested. I've come to the conclusion that alot of them are so worried about missing something that they interpret things as probable cancer when it isn't. Sometimes getting a second opinion from a bc specialist onc can help clarify things. If you are anywhere near one of the Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the US, those are the top tier of cancer centers here. They are listed on the website of the National Cancer Institute. Their bc oncs see patients and do research and are the oncs who give presentations at the big bc conferences. I hope you will find peace of mind for yourself. This cancer is sure not easy to live with!

I’m in the UK but feel sure there is something similar here. We just plod along hoping things won’t change and you can keep on the same treatment but we all know at some point it has to change.Have a great weekend and thank you.

Cheryl

Thank you Sandra. Your words always make us ladies feel more relaxed. I knew I had them when first diagnosed so I suppose there’s a simple reason they have increased. We will find out on 30th. Take care and have a good weekend.Cheryl

I agree that your scans are good news. From what I understand, and what others have already said, liver cysts are not uncommon. My MBC was diagnosed with a liver tumor, which was surgically removed. At the time, they noted other liver cysts that they were not concerned with. These continue to show up each time in my scans and no one bats an eyelash. Something about being old … But I get you need to hear that from your docs. Hopefully, the time will fly by for you. Waiting is hard!
