Hello, This is my 3 rd round of capecetibine , and does my stomach hurt and i have a lot of heartburn. Does anyone have some reccomendations. Helena

Hi, Helena,Have you tried TUMS? I use it occasionally for acid reflux and heartburn. I take two tabs and it works in no time! Good luck and God bless you! XXOO

I am on it too, but haven’t had that issue (yet! Now I feel as if my stomach hurts....I’m so suggestible!). My only question is whether you’ve been taking the pills with food....I always make sure I eat at least a big dollop of yogurt or some coffee cake or something before I take the pills.

My Onc prescribed me 20 mg of Famotidine tablets (generic for Pepcid) twice a day for heartburn and acid reflex. For Capecitabine, I take once in the morning and once in the evening. Swallow the tablets whole with a full glass of water (8 ozs.) within 30 minutes after a meal.

Hi Helena, I talked with my oncologist and she approved me taking OTC Prilosec (Omprazole, cheaper at Costco). I was having a little nausea and that really helped. Best of luck!

I’ve just completed my 4th cycle of Xeloda/CAPE with minimal side effects.

I do suffer occasional heartburn/indigestion that has definitely increased since taking this med. I find a spoonful of bicarbonate of soda mixed with a little warm water really helps!
