Metastasis to the Bone
Hi Wendy Marie,
I’m not sure if it’s the same for everyone, but for me personally it started off feeling like a weakness in my bones. Then there was a constant pain that would not go away. I basically felt like a frail old lady. I would discuss this with your oncologist. A full bone body scan can check to see what is going on and then you can receive the most appropriate treatment if you do have bone metastases.

Thank you I will. I have a constant on and off pain in my thigh. Pain in my lower other leg where I need to massage it.
You’re welcome. It’s definitely worth mentioning to your oncologist and investigating further. Don’t let anyone fob you off and say it’s nothing because the pain is real. You know that something isn’t quite right. I had that happen to me right before my diagnosis. I hope you have some answers soon. If you do have bone metastases then you can start on a course of treatment that will help strengthen your bones and also offer you relief from the pain.

I think it varies for different people. For me it was sharp pain in my long leg bones, backache which meant I struggled to bend, pain in both knees, and one small spot in the middle of my hip. Initially, I was diagnosed with arthritis. There are lots of reasons for bone pain and you need a bone scan to diagnose, blood tests are also usually done.
I have mets in my left hip/top of femur and mine feels like a stinging sensation. I have small volume mets in 1 rib and that just niggles from time to time.
Thank you for responding
Hi Wendy, mine was pain on my neck. For couple of months she said it is osteoarthritis and was treated for that however it got worse and worse so I changed my doctor and MRI of my neck showed it is met to the bone! Please don’t wait, talk to your ONC🌹
Hi WendyMarie47,
I agree with the others that you should see your doc and, as Sophie said, don't let them fob you off. While it's "almost certainly nothing", don't stop until you are satisfied that you can remove the word "almost" from that phrase...My best to you on this.
I'm going to add my experience here, even though it's different from what you describe, in case someone in the future searches for an answer to this question and finds your post...I hope you don't mind...
My bone mets first felt like mild/distracting pains in various organs. I wondered if I had a kidney infection, or something in my liver, lungs, or organs I didn't know the names/locations of...I had sort of concluded that I had mets in various organs by the time I got scan results showing a single tumor in one vertebra, the T12. What was happening was that pain was radiating out along the nerves that come out of that vertebra.
Again, WendyMarie47, I'm wishing you the very best...

My mum started having a pain in her hips out of the blue. At the start she thought she might have pulled something. They kept on saying inflammation bone thining etc then she was told bone metastatic.
For me it was pain in my ribs just at the bra line. I kept chalking it up to getting old. Unfortunately it wasn’t that, I’d rather be old! Elaine
Ps. I responded to your post about hot flashes. I missed it when you first posted.
I had pain in my breast bone and felt like I'd been kicked in the chest, it travelled down my arm. Then I had a pain like sciatica which hurt in my hip , lower back and femur. It wouldn't go away with painkillers or when I laid down. I thought it was my Pilates exercises and age. When I was X rayed there were problems in my lung too.But all improved once I'd start treatment.
Just constant ache in affected areas when it’s a week off Ibrance. Mine is controlled with just Paracetamol. The areas are quite sensitive to touch as well. We are all different so like Sophie said your Oncologist should explain it better. Take care
