Am I the only person to have terrible stomach problems on Xeloda?

I can't answer your question but I'm so sorry you are still dealing with this. It was exciting to get your last good report but no fun if the side effects are debilitating. I supposed they have tried dose adjustments? It's bad enough to have to change treatments when meds stop working, harder if it's due to side effects. But you need to be able to enjoy a bit of this summer too! I hope you can find some relief or good advice soon.

Hi fellow Xeloda buddy. I have been taking it since Jan 2019 and am currently taking 2000mg daily. Unfortunately, yes, I too struggle with the tummy issues but they are much less aggressive at the lower dose.
I was told that if the drug is tearing up your guts, that it is doing the same thing to the rest of your organs as well. My oncologist watches my tummy troubles like a hawk.
I take it 14 of 21 days then start over. I find that days 7-12 are the worst for intestinal system whether I eat or not?
Can't help with your question. I am not on Xeloda yet. That is next for me after ibrance stops working. I have just started that with Faslodex. Keep asking your oncologist for help. Don't think you have to just put up with it. Sometimes they ignore side effects thinking they will get better as we adjust to the medication but suffering is not an option.
Cheers, June S.
I had a lot of tummy issues when I first started. Ginger tea really helped me. Also eating something before you take the pills helps. The dose may need to be adjusted. This drug is challenging until you get the dose right and side effects managed.
I had bad rash and stomach issues with it/ dr pullled me off
I am due to start xeloda on weds just received tablets I am going to be on 3000 mg a day which sounds a lot, hope your stomach issues improve soon
I lasted just 10 days on xeloda was sick as a dog ended up with a bowel blockage in hospital now on adriamycin working well tumor markers dropping no side effects xeloda was the only chemo that caused me side effects hope yours goes better🌹
I did also. Was on it for a year and a half to stabilize the cancer and the problems were persistent. Terrible gas pains and diarrhea. Had to watch I did not eat late in evening or was up during the night. Bloated terribly. Now on Ibrance and Letrozole and no problems with those things.
