Mouth sores
Hi, I've recently started suffering with mouth sores. Been on Ibrance for around 14 months and have been ok up to now but towards the end of my last 2 cycles my mouth has been very sore, last time I didn't eat for around 4 days. I read on here about Gelclare which is a gel mouth rinse which does help, maybe you could try that. Not sure if you're in UK or America but Im UK and managed to get my GP to prescribe it. You can get it on Amazon but it's a bit expensive. Also rinsing with salt water and bicarbonate of soda helps. Hope this helps. Best wishes. Josie x

Peroxyl always helps me in preventing & treating mouth sores. Sold by most drug stores.
❤️🙏❤️
oh yeah drink plenty of water too - 4 litres if you can!
I have found the best thing for mouth sores is rinsing/gargling with warm water and salt (1 tsp) three times a day. Also warm water and baking soda (1tsp) 3 times a day works really well. It helped with the sores from Ibrance and Radiation and it really helps with the sores after chemo. I usually use salt one rinse and baking soda the next.
Also, use a mild toothpaste that doesn’t irritate your mouth. Hope this helps.
Hi there
A colleague of mine who is an oral surgeon recommended Mucosamin mouthwash...I found it very good...can buy on Amazon...it’s pricey but lasts for ages as you only use a tiny amount...it’s quite viscous and ‘stays’ in your mouth especially if you use last thing before bed

Barb, I'm so glad the Guide is helpful! I mention the book and complimentary .pdf whenever I can so that patients can have information at their fingertips, irrespective of whether they wish to purchase the book. When it comes to MBC, information truly is power!
With good wishes!
Hi, I sometimes have mouth ulcers. I rinse with Difflam....sore throat rinse. I put bonjela on the ulcer to help eating without pain. All the best. Fay
I have not had mouth sores myself but I know of cancer patients whose mouth sores are caused by having a particular pill in their mouth so instead of taking the pill by itself, they stuff it inside one of those tiny marshmellows and swallow it that way so the medicine does not touch the inside of their mouth.
I rinse with baking soda or salt water a couple of times a day. My instructions actually say to do it four times a day. I have found salt water to be an amazing healer for many things in my life. You want to hold it in your mouth for a long time do it will soak the sores. Regular use is supposed to help prevent them. I hope you feel better soon!
My onc prescribed Decamethasone. It works extremely well on my mouth sores. And it heals them
