That such GOOD News ! so happy for you !
Great news. I'm so happy for you. I'm on Xeloda. I have had good results, though not quite as great as your's. What treatment were you on before Xeloda?
Congratulations and thank you Sebina, this is just the news I needed this morning! I’m about to take my first dose of Xeloda. A little nervous but hopeful it will do the job on my liver mets. Thanks for sharing!
Hi. Happy to hear you're starting Xeloda. Hope you have good results'. What dose are you taking?
I'm starting on 3,000 mg; 1,500 am and pm. 7 days on, 7 days off. How about you?
Same here. I met several women at the Living Beyond Breast Cancer conference a few months ago who were on Xeloda. They were on the same dose, but taking it more frequently. I asked my oncologist about increasing the number of days on, but she feels it wouldn't improve the efficacy.
Here's the study my oncologist referred to:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
It's VERY dense and mathematical, but the main point seems to be that we can maintain an effective dose better at 7 days on, 7 days off, instead of needing breaks or dose reductions on a 14 on, 7 off schedule. My onc said the hand/foot syndrome and other side effects should be milder. How long have you been on it? I'm all of 4 hours into my first dose...so far so good!
Thanks for your response and the link. What your oncologist says make sense. My side effects have been mild. I started Xeloda in mid-February. My feet get reddish towards the end of my "on" week, but I have not experienced the real burning sensation. Hasn't interfered with my activities, though I am walking less for other reasons (bad knee). I am applying a lot of cream to my feet and hands as a preventive measure.
Sebina! That is excellent news, thanks so much for sharing!
Question for you, if you don't mind....Is this the first, second, ....treatment you've been on? Do you know what type of BC Xeloda is for, e.g. ER/PR + vs. - ? The reason why I ask is because I'm especially eager to hear about treatments that are effective as second+ line therapies. It gives hope when one treatment stops working...
Again, congratulations! Best,
Lynn
So happy for you!
I was first on KISQALI for 12 months and stop working, then I switched to Verzenio but unfortunately stopped working after 10 months, petscan showed a deterioration and my oncologist put me on Xeloda April 1st ...
I take 1500 mg in the morning and 1500 mg in the evening, one week on one week off!
I do have side effects on the palms and feet kind of burning feeling but I keep it under control! I use a lot of lotion (I make my own lotion) and my doctor prescribed me urea cream! Also when I’m on the week on, I put a manuka honey on my hands and feet mixed w Frankincense Essential oil and CBD oil and also on feet I put fresh cabbage leaves and I keeping it overnight 😊!
Fantastic news! So pleased for you 😊

Sebina, great news! So happy for you!
God is Great! Amazing!
Sebina, I am so thrilled for you. You’ve made my day and also have given me hope. I have exhausted all AI. I was on Faslodex/Ibrance for 1 1/2 years. I just started Xeloda and finished 14 days. Tomorrow, I am on my week off. I was so scared for starting Xeloda b/c of side effects, but all seems to be going well.
It’s so good to know that you’re doing so well on Xeloda. Thanks for sharing!
That is such great news. I’m so happy for you. Sounds like Xeloda is a great drug. I just started my second cycle and I am already throwing up after two days. I’m taking 1800 mg a.m. and p.m. Not sure if my body won’t tolerate it or if the dose is still too high. Waiting for a callback from my doctor this morning. Anyone else have flu like side effects from Xeloda?
Hi Annieandbe,
I'm so sorry you feel that way! maybe it takes a little time for your body to get used to it!
I have symptoms like cold, runny nose, sneezing... I asked an oncologist last week and he says it's the side effects of Xeloda! I also have a little nausea at the end of the ON week and I take 1 Zofran a day for nausea and help me!
I hope you will feel better soon!
Sending hugs and positive vibes your way!
Great news!

Yea u! ❤️💕
Absolutely wonderful! Any side effects. What type is your cancer? Sorry for all the questions but just want to know if it’s possible it could work for me not many options left.
Hi ChrisVict,
July 2013 I was diagnosed with primary Her2 neg BC that metastasized to the bones in 2016! Xeloda has been working for me just under a year and cancer progress, but still just bones! The side effects were quite severe, I had foot and hand syndrome (common side effect) so I was limited with all physical activities! After Xeloda failed in February I started with Afinitor 7.5mg and Exemestane! Next month is my pet/ cat scan so I will know more!
Good luck to you and I hope that you and your doctor will find the right treatment for you💕
Sebina
Wow you are on Affinitor that’s what I’m on now and not sure it’s working scan in January changed treatment in August. Increased dose in November my tumor markers went up but they maybe a sign it’s working breaking up proteins and going into blood. Pet in January and more blood work each month we’ll see! That hand foot can be very bad I see. Well I hope I have more time on Affinitor but I believe Xeloda is next. Yes I hope there are other choices with quality of life left. Thank you for the insight we are different cancer types though I am Er+Her2-. It never stops to amaze me how treatment is so individualized. Good luck on your path to seeking the best treatment.
