Flu or meds

I am on Ibrance, Femara and Xgeva injection 4 months, stage IV. Just had PET scan and got good report...Mets down over 50%. However since Friday I felt flu-ish...joint pain, nausea then hip pain for2 days. It’s now Wednesday and all joint pain seems gone but slight nausea and cramping continue.

Can’t tell if it’s the meds, I’ve had NO adverse effects from them but could it be happening now?

Hi,

It's hard to say really. You mentioned the flu. Have you had the flu vaccine? Did you just start treatment? I think it's worth going to see your GP to rule out the flu, and see what is going on. It could be a side effect of your medication, or something else. You may also be experiencing a reaction to the PET CT scan.

I hope you feel better soon.

Sophie ❤

Thanks

Onc sent me for hip X-ray - said it was bursitis... still stomachs a little off...but not debilitating.

I'm pleased to hear you have a diagnosis and know what is going on.

Take care,

Sophie

Hello Presence1

Your symptoms sound like mine toward the end of my cycle on the medicine and the first 2 to three days off. I eventually get better then it starts again with the next cycle. You may want to take your temp to be sure that you don't have an infection but it is always better to be safe and see your doc if you are really worried.

I also have arthritis and two hip replacements so I am never able to tell where the pain is really coming from.

Wish you the best.

Hi

Rough call. I got my faslodex last Friday and it was day 21 of ibrance. I saw my onc that day but didn’t feel right. Felt like I was getting sick. Yesterday I called him because my throat hurt, my sinuses hurt and I am prone to sinus infections. I am now on levaquin-still feel crappy to the point I stayed home today which I don’t do. I am going to see him again this Friday- I just want my counts checked to make sure they are ok.

I would speak to your onc if you can. Just to be sure.

Frances

Dear Frances, If I were you I would prefer some other anti biotic besides levaquin.

Please review the[possible side effects of levaquin. There are serious law suits regarding

side effects . Best wishes Mary

Thank you for responding. In my case I am allergic to many antibiotics and unfortunately this is one of the few tolerable.

I am allergic to so many antibiotics, but the worst I ever had was to levaquin. I had been on it for nearly the whole course and suddenly woke up and could not walk. I had tendonitis for nearly two weeks and was bedridden. Later, I did research and found out that there are hundreds of pending lawsuits out there for this. It is now added to my list of antibiotics that I am allergic to, but it was, by far, the worst side effect that I have ever suffered. Use it with serious caution.

I know- it has black box label. I just saw doc today. Have few more to take then we will see. I have had anaphylactic reactions to antibiotics and carry an Epi. I am hoping fever breaks and that sinuses clear up fast. Thanks for sharing and posting💕

I just had those same symptoms following my Xgeva shot. I had been dieting and exercising to loose some weight, then had the Xgeva.

I've had 10 months of Ibrance, Femara and Xgeva without problems. But this month with the diet and exercise I'm totally wiped out, like the flu.

I know! If I let myself think I’m doing okay and maybe this is the new normal next thing I know it changes... maybe that’s the new normal.

Anyway, hip issue was bursitis and I think a touch of flu or sinus

I’ve had that problem occasionally with Zometa and all the time when I was on XGeva...So I change back and forth when I get a build up and start feeling fluiish...I also took an extra 3 weeks off to detoxify...😀

Yes. It hit me suddenly the Second or third month. It eventually lessens.

Good news on your meds reduction.
