I did post this on a reply to another post but I’m not sure if anyone will see it……..does anyone have hip pain after faslodex. . I have been on this for a handful of years and the hip pain just started within the last 4 months. No problems at the injection site. This is specially my hip. Initially it was just one hip-concerning enough that they did a MRI. Now it’s both hips. I finally noticed the correlation that it ramps up after a shot. It actually hurts so bad it feels like I have damaged the joint or the muscle is not strong enough for me to walk at times. The sharpness of the pain will stop you in your tracks and I have almost fallen several times because of this. Anyone have this? What helps to make this stop?

Hip pain from faslodex?
I had pain on both sides two times ago, and I usually do just fine with these injections. It MAY have been not warmed up enough. It might have gone in too quickly. But I was in pain for about 10 days. This last time...FINE! Every three months the nurse who works with my oncologist does the injection; other times regular nursing staff. The latter do more and I find I typically have no issues when they do it. They said warm compresses help.
I have been taking this on and off for seven years. I warm the Foslodex in a warm blanket. I use the same nurse every time. I take Tylenol and pain medicine an hour before my shots. I put a thick patch of lidocaine on the injection site an hour before too. I take off my shoes and stand on the opposite foot. The nurse injects it slowly. Usually one side is more tender. I put on more lidocaine as needed. I sit on a Pure brand heating pad and sleep with it too. I walk around too after the shots. After so many shots, I have a small tush, you start hitting scar tissue. I hope you can glean something from this. Add anything that can help. I feel bad for about one to two days and sleep a lot. Then I pop back. Good luck. Reenie. Rochester NY. Breast cancer since 2009. Keep it going.
Are you sure they didn't hit the sciatic nerve? That is the risk with fulvestrant injections. That would be excruciating.
That's my thought too.
That wouldn't show up in an MRI, then. I had sciatica once (not from injection) and was prescribed muscle relaxant. Didn't help. Went to PT and I was better immediately. This is probably different, though, if they did hit sciatic nerve. To avoid it in the future, the injections should be more towards the hip, not in the butt -- higher up and on the side. I used to carry around a diagram from a nursing journal that showed where intramuscular injections should be placed. It truly made me popular with the nurses (not).
I’ve had Fulv. Injections for almost 2 years and have had some discomfort but lately noticed more hip pain. I have very large lumps on both hips that are not remediated by massage, heat or any measure. Sorry it’s affecting your mobility and if you do find a remedy I hope you’ll share.
I was on Faslodex for a few years. The term hip can be a bit too general to be clear on where exactly you are getting the pain.. But the injection site is usually high on both sides at the back of the whole pelvis, closer to your pant waist band. If you are getting this pain below those sites, closer to the middle/bottom of your pelvis, then it sounds to me like they are possibly hitting your sciatic nerve, which would explain both the sharp pain you might get when walking, and also that feeling of weakness . I'd be sure to discuss this with your doctor, and possibly also see a physio, who may be able to make the pain heal faster with specific exercises
