Two of my favourite people together 💕. Very interesting interview with Chris Beat Cancer and Jane McLelland from How to Starve cancer.
It seems that fatty acids are one of the main drivers for hormonal cancers so blocking this pathway with the help of a plant-based, low fat diet could be beneficial for us.
All the best,

It's great to see you post this. I watched the video today when I got home from work and was going to post a link, but you beat me to it. I took notes. I was expecting Jane and Chris to say that glucose was more prominent in hormonal cancers, not fat. It got a bit technical at times, but I like how Chris tried to explain things in layman's terms.
It's good to hear from you. How is your day going? I'm lounging around at the moment being lazy!
I have a video consultation with Dr Mazibuko from the Care Oncology Clinic in London booked for tomorrow afternoon. I had the option of going down to London in person or having a video consultation. I chose a video consultation. I've also booked an appointment to see Dr Callebout, an integrative doctor, at the end of May. He's also in London. I plan to see him in person.
Sopjie, that's awesome. Keep us posted please. I have to scan and upload all my paper work to COC as I am in the states. I am waiting for my scan results in May.
All the best with the Care Oncology Clinic. I put a post up about my experience yesterday following my initial consultation. I plan to start the protocol soon.
I have a problem with Chris Wark. He had surgery for a GI tumor that was not metastatic and then refused adjuvant chemo. So far ok, that’s his choice. I read somewhere in his literature that he had stage 3b metastatic cancer??? Everything else I’ve read points to a single tumor. He did not cure his cancer, his surgeon did. Fingers crossed that he will remain well, and certainly it can only help to eat well and keep your body and mind healthy and upbeat. When you are dealing with a vulnerable group, as we Cancer patients are, you need to be really honest about your experience and treatment. He does seem to have a great personality and I wish him well. But he should be more upfront about the reality of his situation.
I remember reading a bit about Chris a while ago and also noting that his cancer was stage 3, rather than stage 4. So in that sense, he was not in the same situation as us. He does have a positive attitude, and that comes across quite clearly.
I have been following Chris for a while and he never said he was metastatic (there is damning article on internet criticizing him of 'quackery', as it usually happens with any alternative approaches). He was Stage 3 and then he refused the recommended adjuvant chemotherapy. Everything he says makes sense to me about being healthy whether you have cancer or not!
There are all these diets out there like the ketogenic diet but I found it interesting that, for us with hormonal cancers, a low fat diet might be more beneficial, like Jane mentions in the interview. Being Stage 4 we need to add more than the diet though!
He didn’t say it but it was in some promotional literature about him. I still don’t like his branding, “Chris Beat Cancer.” That overstates what actually happened. I actually bought his package and after reading about how important it was to join an evangelical type church I put it down. He’s charismatic, but didn’t resonate with me.
No, I was not thinking that Chris said he was metastatic either, just that he was stage 3 so he had a higher chance of beating the cancer than if he had been stage 4 like Jane McLelland, and those of us on this site. I watched one of his videos yesterday and he mentioned how badly he had been treated in the media. That is not on.
When Jane went into radical remission from her cancer it was considered pretty miraculous in the medical world, as she was not expected to survive once the cancer had metastasised to her lungs. What I have seen from Chris so far makes sense to me too. He has a positive attitude and has made changes to his life that he is sharing with others, which is really inspiring.
I agree that diet alone is not enough. That is why I am taking an integrative approach. I've got my Care Oncology Clinic consultation in a couple of hours so I shall see how that goes!
Yes, Sophie, I think what he says about changes to your lifestyle makes a lot of sense!
I can't wait to hear your feedback from COC. I am still a bit reluctanct to put more drugs into my body already with Ibrance, Letrozole, etc... but as they say they will not work forever, it is worth investigating. Xx
Gosh, I read the link. My thoughts weren't so generous. I felt like they are selling books not safe useful information. We should try to lead our lives as normally as possible. Do what we have always done and eat what we have always eaten. If we spend so much time trying to follow everyone's theories, we are always focusing on cancer. I want to enjoy whatever time I have left. I could get hit by a mack truck before the cancer gets me. I do think the Dana Farber study is very promising and also the NHI study. There are reputable scientist out there working on our behalf who are not selling books or supplements. I don't put a lot of faith in one person did this and that and is still here 15 years later and I want to sell you a book about my story. Just my personal thoughts. I hope I didn't offend anyone. It wasn't my intent. Blessings, Hannah
Agreed. So many factors for each person’s situation. And so many well meaning people making suggestions. Each person has to cope with the big question of who to believe and make the best decision for themself.
Great thread on "Chris and His Surgeon Beat Cancer"! I agree with many of you....he should be up front about the surgery. I listened to his online lecture series when it was free a few months ago. Many interesting anecdotes and some good tips, but I was bothered by so many generalizations. He demonized oncology and pharmaceuticals and recommended a ton of supplements across the board. We've all learned the hard way (and by sharing our stories here) that cancer is a very individualized malady, and what works for one person or type of cancer definitely doesn't for others. And yes, the hype bugs me too. I prefer Kris Carr's approach...equally ENTHUSIASTIC but more honest in describing her own treatments and more measured in her suggestions.
