I'm trying to establish if it's OK to take Turmeric/Pepper as I've been diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis and don't wish to take medication suggested by by rheumatologist - sulfasalazine. I had a mastectomy 3 years ago and currently taking Anastrozole.

i ingest black pepper and turmeric on avocado and take a turmeric supplement with black pepper in it; i have been taking a turmeric supplement since the initial diagnosis in October 2011.
The last couple of bc conferences I attended had oncologists talking about bc as having a correlation with inflammation. About the same time, my pcp gave me a list of things to help reduce inflammation (she'd gotten this info from a pain management dr.) and turmeric was on the list. So were tart cherry juice, fish oil and glucosamine chondrotin. I had a swollen ankle from a non cancer relate fracture and the swelling went way down when I had taken some turmeric an the tart cherry juice (1 cup a day) for just a couple of days. I have some arthritis in joints that have been injured an take Celebrex 200 mg (Rx) for that and have not had problems with that med. I've been on it for over 18 years. Have had to stop it for procedures a few times and every time I stop it for 2 or 3 days, my joints hurt again. Hope this info is useful for you.
How's your diet? Sugar & high glycemic foods cause inflammation/flare ups with my arthritis. Once I ditched sugar & keep my carbs low (10-20g/day) my symptoms almost completely disappeared.
