Hi, I am new here and looking for a little advice or experience with taking Turmeric 400gm capsules while taking medication for bone mets. I am taking Letrezole, I have a 4 weekly injection of Denosumab and on Monday will start the Ibrance. I am wondering whether those on this medication still believe in taking Turmeric or dont feel that they should? I have already given away 2 bottles of Apple Cider Vinegar for fear of taking too much unneccessarily.

Just a little backfground on myself as way of introduction. I had breast cancer over 18 years ago, and incidently I stopped smoking at that same time. In May/June this year unfortunately I was diagnosed with seconary breast cancer in my spine and also a primary lung cancer. I have completed 20 radiology sessions to my lung. So concentration now is the bones. Sorry for the long post

I thought I did read not to take Tumeric with cancer maybe even specific meds as it’s ineffective or less effective

My ONC said no to tumeric or garlic which I read both help!

I wish they’re all give out the same info to patients...the Ibrance leaflet doesn’t say anything about turmeric being prohibited and my oncologist says it’s fine so I’m continuing to take it

It’s easy to get obsessed over everything you eat and drink which is detrimental to your health anyway

I think some oncologists are terrified of litigation so they just ban everything to protect themselves

Hi!

Neither supplement will bother your treatment. I take both and am doing quite well currently! If u are into supplements, Ibrance seems to cause fatigue and lower WBC. U might want to take something for that. I don’t take it but most on here do and you hear that a lot...😀

Actually I read from a reliable resource (that I now can’t recall) that turmeric should not be taken with iBrance, I think because it has phytoestrogens. I think the main is issue is that they simply don’t know about possible interactions!

If it helps any, I used to take tumeric to keep my cancer at bay and to reduce joint achiness. But the cancer returned regardless. Now I’m taking ibrance I stopped it ( no longer having the achiness so that’s no problem) .

Thank you. I dont really think its worth taking the risk. I shall give my 2 unopened tubs to my friend instead. Thank for the help. I do think that I am taking enough really without any addtional ones. I have been for my assessment today to take the Irance starting Wednesday. It does frighten me a little when talking about sepsis, and taking temperature before Paracrtamol etc. I expect that I will get used to it and have more confidence eventually.

You will

It’s the unknown that’s scary

I was terrified of the Ibrance when I was first prescribed them and was on the verge of chucking them away but didn’t...I’m used to them now

Just have a UTI at the moment ...my fault for not being vigilant!!

I have been taking Ibrance since November 2018. My biggest problems are low white blood count and fatigue.
