My mom was just recently Diagnosed with Invasive Ductil Carcinoma with Bone Mastitis. She is undergoing Bone Biopsy today . Her CA 27-29 test showed her value at 3,765.6 I have been trying to research all the meanings . She already has fractured/broke pelvic and fractured T-11 in her vertebra. She is in so much pain. They also found tumor in her lung and they can not biopsy right now due to where it’s locatrd within the lung. Her alkaline Phosphate level is super high 405.0 I’m not exactly sure what all this means but I’m really interested to know what the high CA level means as far as the staging of the cancer. Thanks Amy

So sorry that your mom is going through all this and your family too.

So this is my understanding on staging, if she has IDC and the cancer has spread from the breast primary (metastatized) she is stage 4.

If your located in the usa and are near a teaching hospital get her in a clinical trial, it will be her best bet. I would get a second opinion as well(two heads are better than one).

I am no doctor or nurse, i googled the ranges for the CA test it looks as if 3800 is the high - again not trying to worry you or your mom, talk to her oncologist and if your not get the info you need get a second opinion.

All the best to your family xoxo

Hi. I also have ca 27-29. Sorry to hear. I have Mets in my stomach, anus and bones. I am on Ibrance, fulvestrant shots and zometa infusions every 3 months.

My numbers have been coming down. I just finished my 4th round.

When I was diagnosed in August 2018 I went to Sloan Kettering in NYC for a second opinion and they agreed with my oncologist at Rochester General hospital. They took blood and the hospital sent Sloan the tumor for research. We all need to participate in the ongoing cure. Good luck and blessings to you. I am in cold ROCHESTER NY. Reenie

Your graph looks just like mine when I go into my portal. Maybe they all look that way. My doctor does check my CA 27-29 and I always get the results before he calls me or sees me and sometimes it freaks me out if it has gone up. I don't know what to make of them. Mine are only in the 60's but still higher than what they say is normal. I don't know if 60 or 600 makes any difference. I guess I just always hope that it will get into the normal range. I would definitely go with your mom and have a list of questions ready for the doctor.

Hope that gives you some peace and my thoughts are with you.

I’m sorry about your mom. I had a fractured T10 and 12 and can attest to the pain! I had radiation to both of them with great results but I still have other more generalized back pain from other bone mets. I am on a Fentanyl patch and Dilaudid for that pain. I just learned that although my scan results are great, the pain will probably not diminish much, so I have learned to pace myself and avoid activities that aggravate my back. I went clothes shopping today which is something that really causes my pain level to rise but since I’ve lost a lot of weight, I did need a few new clothes since baggy clothes do not help the self image! Tell your mom things will get better. It took me about 6 months between radiation, physical therapy, and massages to get to the new normal.
