Hi all,

I am wondering whether adding biotin to my diet would be good for my hair or not because my cancer is estrogen strongly positive.

Could you please share your experience?

Hi,

I have been taking 1000mg biotin and Nourkrin everyday since my diagnosis in May 2018 and it has been fine. I try not to take it a couple of days before bloods but sometimes I have not remembered and results still ok.

Hi Arvada

That slightly reassured me as I’m now panicking that I’ve interfered with the markers..as if there’s not enough to worry about

Hi Sandra

Just read that link and now I’m worried that I’ve interfered with my markers results as they’ve been creeping up since October

I’ll mention to my oncologist as I’m seeing her on Wednesday

Thanks for info

I take biotin. My oncologist knows. Never said anything regarding any interference. Do what you are comfortable with.

My oncologist is the one who told me about biotin! He couldn't recommend it as the data is unclear about efficacy, but told me many people swear by it and it wouldn't hurt me.

Hi Sandra

I rang oncology nurse as I’m supposed to have bloods done today

She said the biotin can affect markers so I’m having them done in 2 days

Why don’t they tell us??!!

I added a biotin organic shampoo from Costco. To my surprise, it worked instantly to thicken up.

Thanks so much for posting this memo. I think some women may have misunderstood the issue. If your docs agree, it is safe to take biotin with ER+ breast cancer....but just keep in mind it can give false positive or negative results on tumor markers. So by stopping the biotin 48 hours before the blood tests, one can minimize the false positive and negative readings of tumor markers.

My doctor said biotin is fine too. He said the ct results are what he looks at not just the tumor markers.
