My first Taxol chemo day

Jerseygirl45 profile image
54 Replies

YAY!!! I was so nervous thinking I would be nauseas or get diarrhea during treatment.

But it was an easy day no side effects so far. I am home now. Next treatment next Thursday. Hope they all go this well. I know I will get some side effects and lose hair but I will take a good day when I can get it.

Told you! Yes to hair loss and maybe some neuropathy. Tell your doctor. Otherwise could be so much worse. Good luck

Thank you, the best thing was hearing from everyone about how they did on IV chemo. Hair is the worst part I hope. And I hope it works well as did for you. Some people did not get great results.

I have to admit I was so nervous today not knowing how I would feel during treatment😘

I am so glad to hear it went well. I am sitting home getting over bronchitis. Dr gave me steroids and cough medicine. Jjust a few things to add to my rather crowded medication list!! I will pray that you breeze through with no side effects. I know that is alot to ask But with God All Things are Possible!!!

I am wishing the same thing. I have planning for the last 3 months to be laid up sick as of today. I so hope everyone's prayer are what made to day so easy.

Hate to ask for an easy ride. Next treatment could be worse.

Thank you for your prayers.

Thank you I just the other treatments go as well. Will let you know.

I still had energy today. Woke up early. Must have been the 5 steroids I took the night before to ward off nausea.

Hey Jersey Girl!

Glad to hear Taxol went well for u so far...Taxol is one of my future treatments after my Perjeta and then Kadcyla then I think Taxol is on the short list...

Prayers for healing upon your cancer! 🙏🏻💕

My doctor Knew I get nauseous easily so she added steroids for the night before, Benadryl, Pepcid for my stomach. Another med for nausea. She covered all bases and it worked. Bless her.

That's great. Glad it went well. I did taxol after 4 rounds of AC after my first diagnosis and don't remember having any problems with it other than continued hair loss. Yes we have to take the good days and be grateful. Hope the rest continue like this one.

Hugs - Kim

I understand the more frequent treatments are not as bad as the ones I had 20 yedrs ago. With that said, taxol dies not give one nausea. So fir that we are grateful. But the deep bone pain kasting a few days can be frightening. That always happened a couple to a few days after treatment. Fortunately only lasted a few days each time. My biggest suggestion is to take coq10 , 400 mgs twice daily to avoid permanent neuropathy

Jerseygirl45 profile image
Jerseygirl45 in reply to blms

Thanks for that information. I will pick up some Q10 in case. I am only one day after and so far it was a good one. High hopes, but I will take your advice thank you.

Careful of brand. I would strongly suggest the brandI have been using. It was suggested to me by a pharmacologist and has served my nerves well for years.

Plus it helps alot with energy levels

I take jarrow ubiquinol QH absorb 200 mgs

SO glad it all went well and hope it continues. thanks for the details - hopeful for those of us who may be looking at going that way soon (though I don't know what drug my oncologist has in mind if/when the time comes!)

Keep well and do let us know how you go

Glad it's going well. I'm on Taxol, too. If you don't want to lose your hair look into the cold cap therapy. Don't have much hair on my body, but I still have it on my head thanks to the those caps. Just a thought.

Jerseygirl45 profile image

I did look into it. It was expensive to rent. The cancer center that I go to said they don't deal with them.

Thank you

HelloJerseygirl145:

I am glad that everything went well on your first day of taxol. I have been constipaed every time I get my taxol treatment. But no bad side effects so far. Except pain in my right ankle on sunday. I haven’t had my stomach drained for the ascites in three weeks. I hope the taxol is working on my ascites. Stay strong , good luck!

Jerseygirl45 profile image

No, she did say it could happen. But I think she said she would stop treatment if it happened. I hope it does not I so want this to work and get it over with. I don't know what the next step will be if it does not work.

Hi! I just had my 5th Taxol amd I am doing great still! Just fatigue is setting in the 2 to 4th days. My hair isnt completely gone although i shaved it the 3rd week because it was falling out like crazy.

Are you doing the once a week or once a month?

Glad all is going well for you! I just did my second Taxol treatment. I am starting to loose my hair, have constipation on the 2nd and 3rd days (which I fend off with extra fiber), get tired on days 3 and 4, but still am able to work my full-time job teaching for now! I wish you the very best!!! We will all help each other through this!

I can not imagine having to go to work going through chemo. I give you a lot of credit.

This is my third day after my first treatment and I feel sore all over.

I wish you well on this journey we are on. I will probably start losing hair soon.😥

Will be thinking of you❤️

Hmmmm.... would a heating pad help you? I am very attached to my heating pad when I feel achy.

Glad to hear first treatment wasnt as bad as you were expecting. I hope it continues this way for you. Losing the hair will just be an inconvenience if it happens. And if it does, it will grow back.

Stay strong and keep us posted as we care about you!

Hi Jerseygirl. Been thinking of you. Are you still doing well? How often are your infusions? I forgot if you mentioned but have you considered using a cold cap during your infusion to preserve your hair? Best to you!

Jerseygirl45 profile image
Jerseygirl45 in reply to Purple60

I think I am doing well. It is the 4 th day since my first Taxol. I had some achyness all over but no nausea, thank goodness. I have severe arthritis in my knees and they cannot get me in before this Thursday for gel injection. It will be 3 weekly injections. So my legs are killing me.

Will see my oncologist this wed and my nexus chemo is Thursday.

Could not do cold caps, very expensive.

Thank you for thinking of me , will keep you posted.

Barbara

Great news! Keep up the good work Jersey! Blessing & love always! :)

I didn't get nausea and my hair actually started growing back on Taxol after losing it with my Fec chemo. Only problem I found was neutrophils went low and awful taste in my mouth. Wish you all the best. Tracey
