New here. Halfway through 2nd cycle of Palbociclib ( 125 Ibrance) and letrozole. Comparatively new treatment in UK. Painful mouth ulcers getting me down, can cope with tiredness. Have tried gargles, rinses, gels, bonjela, anything else?

Gargling will help and your MD can also prescribe some gargles that offer pain relief. The good news is they will lessen as your body adjusts. Mine did. Mine are very few and far between.

I’m heading your way in April can’t wait never been!

Best wishes!

Hi Rotagirl!

This works for me, but needs to be followed morning and evening:

1. Rinse mouth for 30 seconds with Plax.

2. Brush teeth and gums thoroughly for 2 minutes with Arm & Hammer Peroxicare toothpaste.

3. Rinse mouth for 30 seconds with Listerine Zero Alcohol mouthwash.

Good luck 🍀👍❤️ Linda in Seattle

In the US at least, you can have your doctor prescribe a compound called "Magic Mouthwash." I also found an over-the-counter product called Gly-Oxide which helped. I never had a bad case of mouth sores until over a year into my treatment, and then it lasted a month or so, and I never had it again (now several months later) - which is to say, I've found that some side effects are so unpredictable as to when they decide to show up!

So sorry, I had the same when I first started, now nearly 3 yrs into the treatment, nothing at all. So take heart, it will probably not last. B12, and magic mouth wash (either from your Doc or a dentist that sees individuals with conventional braces, they have all sorts of abrasions. Take care sister!

My doctor gave me a prescription for a mouth wash to use 3 times a day. It helped some.

I had mouth sores from radiation and I was prescribed something called Magic Mouthwash. It needed to be compounded at a compounding pharmacy. Here's the mixture:

1 Part viscous lidocaine 2%

1 Part Maalox.

1 Part diphenhydramine 12.5 mg per 5 ml elixir.

lidocaine is a numbing agent, diph...is benadryl and maalox coats the stomach and tongue. It did help, but didn't taste the best. You can at least ask your doctor or pharmacy.

Hope it's better soon!

Gel Clair is a new medicine for canker sores. It's expensive but I applied for help and ended up paying nothing. It really did help with the pain and healing.

You might try a device I started using several weeks ago. Check out Luminancered.comI read the testimonials which were pretty impressive and decided to splurge on buying the device. I didn’t get the miraculous results that others seemed to have gotten but I will say that my ulcers if I can get them early enough will last only 5 to 7 days instead of 7 to 10 days and seem to be less painful.

Also, my naturopathic oncologist prescribed SeabuckWonders Berry oil, 1 ml daily.

My other oncologist said that if you use one of those mouthwashes then your whole mouth is numb. I have been taking a Q-tip and putting Orajel on it and then just letting it sit on the ulcer for a while. This plus ibuprofen in extreme cases gives me the most relief. Gargling with warm salt water helps, as well.

I empathize with you so much! And I wish you good luck!
